After the heartbreak of last week, after walking away from a cup final feeling like football had robbed us blind… there’s only one thing left to do.

Respond.

Because if there’s one thing this Pennington Veterans side has shown all season, it’s that when we get knocked down… we don’t sulk, we don’t hide, and we definitely don’t feel sorry for ourselves.

We come back swinging.

This Sunday at Jubilee Park, the League Champions return home for the final time this season as we welcome Wigan Town Veterans.

Now let’s be honest… somebody is going to have to pay for last week’s disappointment 👀

Not in a dirty way before anyone starts crying in group chats… but in that horrible, relentless, Pennington way. The kind where you’re chasing shadows, hearing Dom shouting deliveries, Lee covering 17 positions at once, Bucky sniffing around the box like a seagull outside the chippy and Sharpey barking orders like he owns the deeds to Jubilee Park.

Because this group have earned the right to finish strong.

From a bunch of lads getting the band back together… to starting with nothing… no kits, no pitch, barely a name… to now standing here as league champions in our first season under the Pennington banner.

That doesn’t happen by accident.

That happens through graft.

Through lads showing up week in, week out.

Through injuries, banter, setbacks, dodgy knees, pulled calves and enough Deep Heat to gas out Atherton.

And now?

One last dance at home.

One more chance to see your League Champions before the curtain closes on what has already been a ridiculous season.

So get yourselves down.

Bring the noise. Bring the kids. Bring the dogs. Bring your nan if she fancies watching grown men creak into tackles.

Was a pleasure to support Pennington FC Veterans in their preparation for the final football cup this weekend, unfortunately it wasn’t the result they wanted, but a massive to shout out to every single one of them and their team ethic, I’m glad I was able to be a part of the experience and support them throughout the game👏🏽🔵⚽️
