the people live in peace and contentment.

They take joy in the work of their own hands

and do not become obsessed with making life faster and easier.

They love their homes deeply,

so they do not constantly seek to go elsewhere.

There may be boats and carts,

but there is no restless desire to travel.

There may be weapons,

but no one feels the need to use them.

People enjoy simple food,

cherish time with their families,

care for their gardens,

and find happiness in the life of their community.

Even if another country lies nearby,

close enough to hear its dogs bark

and its roosters crow,

the people remain content where they are.

They live their whole lives peacefully,

without feeling the need to wander far from home.
