Ge***al Warts: Causes, Symptoms, Methods of Transfer to Persons, Treatment

A ge***al wart is a contagious, projecting fleshy growth on the external ge***als or a**s, consisting of fibrous overgrowths covered by a thickened epithelium (outer layer).

Ge***al warts are due to s*xual contact with a person infected with human papillomavirus (HPV); they are usually benign (non-cancerous), but many subtypes have the potential for malignant (cancerous) change.

👉🏾SIGNS & SYMPTOMS:

Ge***al warts are transmitted through s*xual activity. You may not begin to develop warts for several weeks after infection.
The warts are not always visible to the human eye. They may be very small and the color of the skin or slightly darker. The top of the growths may resemble a cauliflower and may feel smooth or slightly bumpy to the touch. An infected person may have a cluster of warts, or just one wart.
Ge***al warts on males may appear on the following areas:

👉🏾Pen*s
👉🏾Scrotum
👉🏾Groin
👉🏾Thighs
👉🏾Inside or Around the a**s

Ge***al warts in females may appear on the following area:

👉🏾Inside of the va**na or a**s
👉🏾Outside of the va**na or a**s
👉🏾Cervix
👉🏾Ge***al warts may also appear on the lips, mouth, tongue, or throat of a person who has had oral s*xual contact with an infected person.

Even if you cannot see ge***al warts, they may still cause symptoms, such as:

👉🏾Vaginal discharge
👉🏾Itching
👉🏾Bleeding
👉🏾Burning
If ge***al warts spread or become enlarged, the condition can be uncomfortable or even painful.

👉🏾How do you get ge***al warts?

You get ge***al warts from having skin-to-skin contact with someone who’s infected, often during va**nal, a**l, and oral s*x. Ge***al warts can be spread even if no one c**s, and a p***s doesn’t have to go inside a va**na or a**s to get them.

You can spread them even when you don’t have any visible warts or other symptoms, though that’s less common. You can also pass ge***al warts to a baby during va**nal childbirth, but that’s pretty rare.

Ge***al warts are different from warts you might get elsewhere on your body. So you can’t get ge***al warts by touching yourself (or a partner) with a wart that’s on your hand or foot.

You’re more likely to pass ge***al warts when you’re having symptoms. So if you notice a wart, it’s best to get tested and treated to help lower the risk of passing ge***al warts on to a partner.
Ge***al warts are common — about 360,000 people get them each year.

👉🏾CAUSES

Most cases of ge***al warts are caused by HPV. And there are more than 70 types of HPV that specifically affect the ge***als. The HPV virus is highly transmittable through skin-to-skin contact, which is why it is considered a STI.

In fact, HPV is so common that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that most s*xually active people get it at some point — the key difference is whether the virus leads to complications like ge***al warts.
Ge***al warts are caused by different strains of HPV that cause warts on your hands or other parts of the body that don’t include the ge***al. A wart can’t spread from someone’s hand to the ge***als, and vice versa.
