What is best way to lose weight and keep it off?

Get the carbohydrates out of your life. Not just the obvious carbs like sugar and flour, but also fruit, honey, potatoes, corn, tortillas, cooked carrots, sweet potatoes, pasta, BEANS all those “healthy complex carbohydrates” still have a ton of carbs and your body turns even the most “healthy” and “complex” carbohydrate into glucose. Unburned glucose becomes body fat.

Eat once or twice a day. NO snacks. All the expert advice about eating small frequent meals and snacks was a disaster. Frequent feedings keep insulin levels high and stored fat does NOT burn in the presence of insulin.

Don’t eat anything past 5:00 pm.

Eat more natural fats. Eggs. Butter. Marbled beef. Bacon. Full-fat cheese. Cream. Olive oil. Avocados…The low-fat/high complex carbohydrate advice of the past thirty-odd years was such an utter failure. So sad.

Learn to love salad. Don’t put high-carb dressings, sunflower seeds, croutons on those leafy greens. Mixed greens with low/no carb dressing, cheese, olives, avocado…yum.

Don’t drink your calories. H2O is what you should be drinking. Soda and ‘healthy” fruit juice and reduced-fat milk are all full of sugar.

Alcohol puts on fat. Sorry, but it does.

Don’t drink diet soda. The sweet taste causes your pancreas to secrete insulin and stored fat does not burn in the presence of insulin. Hard to believe, but true.

GET ENOUGH SLEEP…Being short on ZZZ’s causes your body to secrete the stress hormone cortisol. Cortisol can cause weight gain and prevent weight loss.

Do not gorge on protein. Your liver takes any extra protein and turns it into GLUCOSE…which if not burned right away will be turned into triglycerides and stored as FAT.

Get a little exercise. Weight loss is 80% diet and maybe 20% exercise. Exercise is absolutely essential for physical and mental health but even running three miles a day and/or pumping iron isn’t going to help much to lose weight. What exercise DOES do is help tremendously to keep weight off while making us look all sexy.

Consider fasting. You would not believe all the benefits; not just weight loss.

See your doc. It is just possible that you have an underlying health issue that is causing weight gain or preventing weight loss…Diabetes and low thyroid hormone or polycystic ovarian disease are all possibilities. Some people who are depressed or stressed eat for comfort and do not have the energy to move much.
