COMFREY INCI: Symphytum Officinale Root Extract/Symphytum Officinale Leaf Extract

Comfrey is another plant you can grow at home! And, comfrey extract has excellent anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties.

It also has some astringent and antimicrobial activities due to its high tannin content. Comfrey extract can contain small amounts of toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids (more abundantly present in roots) that are removed from the extract during processing.

Comfrey extract can be made from leaves or roots. It is a natural source of allantoin (leaves contain over 1%, roots contain up to 0.8%)15.
