Who ❤️ taro? Enjoy it while it's still in season. It's also a great CNY food as it signifies "good omen is coming".
Made a few batches as CNY gifts. The batch for own consumption is taro overloaded. Not pretty as it doesn't hold well once cut but super tarolicious 😋

Very happy. Made good use of extra angpow packets to turn these as Chinese New Year gifts.

Seriously very lotus root soup👍!
Tried to replicate the delicious lotus root soup we tasted at Grand Hyatt recently. Can't claim its the same but my version managed to impress everyone at home. 😍.
Do try it. Ingredients : Lotus root, pork bones for soup, dried octopus, chestnut, red dates, black beans.

Birthday lunch. A tradition the non-hokkien family is happy to go along with.

New vegetable discovery at my usual vegetable stall! "kuan tat choy" or in Mandarin 'junda cai". Google suggests it's silverbeet or chard.
Stir fried it with garlic so that we could taste the original flavour. Crunchy, sweet and has a bit of beetroot flavour. Love it!

Carrot cake with dark muscavado sugar, fresh carrot, Xinjiang raisins and spices. Cream cheese frosting with monkfruit sweetener. Garnished with fresh roasted pistachio. Verdict : birthday boy gave the 👍.
