In thoracic surgery, anesthesiologists use a double-lumen tube (DLT) to control each lung separately. One lung can be “switched off” for surgery while the other keeps the patient breathing- like having two switches and choosing which lung stays on. This morning we held a medical simulation in the OR with our orthopedic team, anesthesia colleagues, and OR staff.
