Month Wise Regime
First month
A pregnant woman should take natural supplements like draksha, khajoor, manooka, and vidari with milk [cold/room temperature] in the morning.
For the first 12 days, have ghee [prepared from cow's milk] boiled with leaves of saliparni herb. It is important to have this preparation in a vessel made of precious metals like gold or silver. After that, have water that is boiled and cooled. Your breakfast should comprise sweet, cold and semi-solid foods.
Women tend to start taking a massage or reverse massage from this month. However, massages are to be avoided till the fifth month.
Second month
Have milk mixed with the above-mentioned natural supplements.
Third month
Have the same sweet natural supplements, but now mix them with milk, honey and ghee.
Fourth month
Continue taking the same sweet supplements with milk. This time replace ghee with butter [12 – 15g of makkhan] made from milk.
Fifth month
Continue the supplement regime of the fourth month. Oil application and gentle massage followed by a bath with lukewarm water is recommended. Continue this till delivery.
Sixth month
Continue the supplement regime of the fifth month.
Seventh month
Mothers-to-be may feel an itchy sensation on the breast and abdomen or a burning sensation in chest or throat due to increased size of foetus.
Eat food in smaller quantities, frequently, and a bite of sweet something with little ghee or oil that is easy to digest. Ensure that your salt intake during this period is reduced to a minimum. Also, avoid drinking water immediately after a meal.
Eighth month
Eat rice prepared with milk in semi-solid or liquid form with ghee.
Ninth month
Follow the same diet as in the eighth month.
Apply oil on the abdomen and ge***al areas. Take an oil e***a in small quantities to help ease false labour pains. You can even insert cotton ball dipped in oil into the va**na to lubricate the passage. Be particular about maintaining hygiene to avoid infection, which cause itchiness or swelling of the ge***al area.

Things To Do During Pregnancy
Sleep before 10am and arise before 6.30am. Women with regular sleep patterns were found to have babies with similar habits.
Practice daily self-massage with warm sesame oil or herbalised oil such as Dhanwantaram Thailam. Massage should be done in a warm, quiet room with pleasant music playing. Use an open palm rather than fingertips and apply long strokes on long bones and circular strokes around the joints. Spend more time on painful areas but be careful to be gentle on the abdominal region where it is best to softly stroke in a clockwise direction around the naval. This reduces stress marks, soothes the neuromuscular system, aids assimilation and elimination whilst reducing leg swelling and varicosities.
Wear loosing fitting clothes of natural fibers and comfortable shoes.
Enjoy at least twenty minutes of fresh air and sunshine daily.
Practice gentle yoga, pelvic floor exercises and pranayama or Lamaze techniques as guided by a qualified teacher. This promotes a peaceful mind and a strong, flexible body, preventing problems during pregnancy and delivery whilst hastening post-natal recovery. 6. Practice daily prayer, yoga nidra and meditation. This unifies one’s physical, mental and spiritual self, creating a better biochemical environment for the child to thrive in. A relaxed mind supports a relaxed body as proven in studies that showed meditation decreases the stress hormone cortisol significantly.2 Studies have also shown that babies of mothers who meditated regularly through pregnancy experienced alpha brainwave states twice as much after birth as babies of non-meditating mothers.
Take gentle walks or swims to ease muscle tension, assist circulation, elimination and assimilation. It is said that a lazy, inactive mother is more likely to beget a lazy child.
Wear calming, cooling sandalwood essential oil.
Observe the personalized dietary guidelines as prescribed by an ayurvedic physician or follow basic nutrition tips.
Choose the location of the birth whether at home, a birth centre or a hospital. Familiarise yourself with the set up and systems of the place.
Develop a trusting relationship with the midwife and/ or obstetrician. The midwife or birth attendant should be experienced, friendly, alert, expert, affectionate, concerned and caring. Once in labor it can be hard to absorb new information or make rational decisions so it is best to clarify your ideas beforehand. Discuss preferences regarding interventions such as inducement, forceps, suction, caesarian and pain relief possibilities such as gas, pethidine and epidurals. Also inform them of any special requests regarding the environment, support people, birth position and post-natal baby bonding.
Check chilbirth costs and medical insurance entitlements.
Prepare the baby’s space at home complete with sleeping arrangement, change table, antiseptic hand wash, unbleached cotton nappies, pilchers, natural baby wipes, natural talcum powder, wondersuits, beanies, sea sponge for bathing, syringe to give baby medicine if needed, thermometer, bunny rugs and car capsule or seat.
Investigate a good nappy service.
Establish a “bosom buddy” who is happy to supply you with breast milk should something go wrong with breastfeeding.
Ayurveda recommends regular baths in rose petals and pounded castor leaves.
Read uplifting, enlightening material. Talking sweetly to the baby and playing relaxing music or specific classical tunes (ragas) has shown to benefit both mother and baby. Hearing is the first sense that the foetus develops. From ten to twelve weeks after conception any stimulation causes nerve cells in the baby’s brain to transmit waves of neural activity forming permanent neural patterns. The type of stimuli determines which synapses are formed and become dominant and if connections are not forged at this formative phase the baby will not attain its full potential. Therefore it is important for the mother and father to talk or sing sweetly to the baby whilst in the womb as the neural pathways formed will allow the baby to recognize its mothers voice and respond to her touch. Vedic texts also say we start learning in the womb, giving examples of great Saints Prahlad Maharaj, Abhimanyu and Sukadeva Gosvami receiving spiritual knowledge while in utero. Ontario conductor Boris Brott confers with this realizing he knew certain pieces of music unseen which he later discovered his cellist mother played while pregnant with him

History of
The scientific evidence of yoga practice is traced back to Indus Valley Civilization (3000 BC) which is pre-vedic age before the A***n civilization started to flourish in the Indus subcontinent. In archaeological excavations made in the Indus Valley at Mohenjo-Daro a figure is found that archaeologists believe represents a yogi sitting in meditation posture.
The figure is shown sitting in cross-legged traditional yoga pose with its hands resting on its knees. Archaeologist Sir John Marshall, the discoverer of the seal named the figure Shiva Pashupati. According to Indian mythology Lord Adi Nath, the other name for Lord Shiva is believed to be the founder of yoga and Parvati his divine consort first disciple.
In Vedic Sanskrit, the more commonly used, literal meaning of the Sanskrit word yoga which is "to add", "to join", "to unite", or "to attach" from the root . Yoga is more than mastering postures and increasing your flexibility and strength.
In Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism the word yoga means "spiritual discipline". People often associate yoga with the postures and stances that make up the physical activity of the exercise, but after closer inspection it becomes clear that there are many more aspects of yoga. It is an activity that has been practiced for thousands of years, and it is something that has evolved and changed overtime. Different factions of yoga have developed since its conception.

WHY YOGA ??
Thousands of people have found yoga to be very beneficial, not only in helping to maintain a healthy body & also to keep a clear and stress free mind.
Yoga improves many physical aspects of the body, including muscle tone. Taking part in yoga shapes lean, long muscles, and increases the bodies flexibility in the hamstrings, shoulders, back, and hips. Yoga also builds strength in the body because many yoga poses require the person to hold their own body weight, and some of the exercises involve moving slowly in and out of a pose.
Many of the strength building exercises work out the upper body and core abdominal muscles. Yoga also improves endurance and the exercises are done with controlled breathing, which allows more oxygen to flow through the blood system to the muscles, giving the person more energy. Practicing yoga as also been shown to reduce or even eliminate pains such as back pain, and increases pain tolerance overall. Yoga also promotes a high metabolism in the body, making it easier to maintain or lose weight if desired; by stretching and toning the muscles, yoga reduces cellulite that forms around muscles tissue.
