Dr. Ksh*tij Raizada

A 45 year old gentleman presented to us with Neovascular Glaucoma (NVG) status post CRVO with Macular edema in his Left Eye. He had not taken treatment for CRVO since 1 month thus resulting in NVG (Though, usually NVG manifests after around 3 months of onset of CRVO). His IOP on maximum glaucoma therapy was around 50-60 mmHg on Applanation Tonometry.

Dr Ksh*tij Raizada (Retina Surgeon) injected Anti-VEGF and did Laser PRP in the Left Eye. Anti-VEGF was also injected in the anterior chamber.

After 2 weeks regression of NVI was noticed yet pressures were in the high 50s.
Dr. Kamakshi Kharbanda (Glaucoma Surgeon) decided to do an Ahmed Glaucoma Valve for this patient owing to high chances of failure of Trabeculectomy.

An Ahmed glaucoma valve of FP7 model was implanted in this patient.

IOP on POD 1 was 12mmhg. Patient is doing well. The bleb is well formed.

This procedure has saved the eye of the patient from undergoing permanent damage due to Glaucoma (Absolute Eye).

This is a classic case of Glaucoma & Retina Specialties working in harmony to provide Best possible treatment to the Patient 🤝

Grateful to be given an opportunity to showcase my work at the recently concluded 42nd Annual Meeting of American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS), held at Stockholm, Sweden.

ASRS is considered one of the most prestigious platform globally in the field of Retina healthcare and is attended by Retina Surgeons from all over the World and to be a part of it is truly an enriching experience!

The social events at the ASRS were a royal affair with the "Opening Ceremony" being held at the "Grand Hotel" which used to host the Nobel Prize Ceremony until 1929 while the "Closing Ceremony" was held at the "Vasa Museum" which houses the wreckage of a Warship that sank during the Medieval times.

Very thankful to the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) for awarding me a Travel Fellowship for my participation in this prestigious event.

My presentation was received well by the Panelists and the audience and with stimulating lectures and thought provoking discussions with peers, I come back home with a lot more to offer to my patients 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Our sojourn in the Philippines is one to remember for a long time!

Dr. Kamakshi Kharbanda was an Invited Faculty at the Asia-Pacific Glaucoma Congress 2024, held at Manila, Philippines, to deliberate upon "Strategies and Innovations in Teaching Glaucoma"

Special thanks to "Dr. Perfecto Elpidio Octavio Roy Cagampang III" for being such a warm and hospitable host!

Dr. Perfecto is a Senior, Eminent Retina Surgeon in the Philippines, and he was extremely kind to ensure that our stay in the Philippines was without any glitches!

Our visa process got stuck at one point of time and Dr. Perfecto even went to the length of writing a letter to the "Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines" in India, to ensure we get our visa in time.

He was there to pick us up at the airport late at night, was very thoughtful to get some munchies alongwith him, dropped us at our apartment and showed us around in his beautiful city!

We were lucky to be at the Graduation Party of Dr. Perfecto's daughter and we wish her the very best for a bright future! 😊

Dr. Perfecto's wife and his entire family were extremely compassionate and we would like to thank them all for making our stay memorable in their beautiful country! 🇵🇭

We hope to host him and his family in India 🇮🇳 sometime in future and continue this deeply forged friendship for lifelong!

A 52 year old female presented to us with Retinal Detachment
Her Vision was HMCF PL+ve PR Accurate (Zero Vision)
We treated her with Pneumatic Retinopexy (PnR)
Next Day her vision had improved to 6/36 N24 (Fairly good vision), and one week later, her vision had improved even more (6/24 N18)
Total Procedure Time : Approximately 15 minutes
This procedure offered the patient with the quickest possible rehabilitation in Minimally Invasive manner!

Worm 🪱 in the Eye👀!

On the occasion of "World Sight Day" sharing an intriguing case that we operated recently.

A 44-year-old male came to us with complaints of Diminution of Vision in his Left Eye. On examination, we found the "Worm" underneath the Retina of the Left Eye (Sub-Retinal Cysticercus)!

This condition is caused by infection by a parasite called as Tapeworm (Taenia Solium). The worm was living in a cyst, under the retina of the left eye of the patient!

We operated the patient (Pars Plana Vitrectomy + Silicon Oil Injection) and could successfully remove the cyst from under the retina of the patient!

Such infections usually happen when people eat raw-uncooked food with dirty hands. This case highlights the importance of proper hygiene and maintaining healthy food habits!

On this "World Sight Day", let us all take a pledge to take good care of our eyes and ourselves🙏
