If your **ch pull is strong but you still can’t catch the bar, the problem is not strength… it’s timing and speed.
Try adding speed pulls from the hip (like Hrash demonstrates).
This variation helps in two major ways:
1. Faster Force Production
Instead of pulling for too long (over-pulling), this teaches your body to apply maximum force in minimum time.
Scientifically, this improves your Rate of Force Development (RFD) — which is critical in Olympic lifting.
2. Better Direction Change (Pull → Catch)
It trains you to unweight your body — meaning you learn to go from pulling up → dropping under the bar faster.
This improves your neuromuscular coordination and transition speed.
Important Technique Cue:
Maintain a “funnel position” — chest up, bar close, and elbows high outside — so energy transfer stays efficient.
👉 Use straps, keep the load moderate, and focus on speed, not ego lifting.
