Tight hips are a common issue, For people who sit a long time at work, the hip flexors and rotators become tight, and the gluteal muscles become weak, this combination negatively affects our ability to walk, maintain proper posture, and the stability of our spine.
Hip openers are actually the most-requested moves in my yoga classes.
There are a range of simple yoga poses you can do at home that target each of the four primary directions of hip movement, with modifications for all levels. Butterfly stretch, frog pose, camel pose, Malasana....etc.

Power yoga, which is also known as Vinyasa yoga, is a fast-paced style of yoga that's focused on building strength and endurance. It is also an excellent form of yoga for burning calories.
Power yoga incorporates the athleticism of Ashtanga, including lots of vinyasas (series of poses done in sequence) but gives each teacher the flexibility to teach any poses in any order, making every class different. Power yoga, for example, is designed specifically to improve muscle strength and cardiovascular endurance. The poses are challenging, and you move from one pose to the next quickly.

Pranayama is the practice of yogic breathing. Some translate it as “energy regulation”, and other masters refer to it as “breath control”. Breathing techniques have their own specific blueprint with different physical, emotional and spiritual benefits.
Pranayama is often referred to as the primary asana in yoga, and therefore the foundation of all other postures and disciplines.

Yoga mudras are energetic closures or gestures made with our hands and fingers to help direct the flow of energy within the body, stimulating specific areas of the body and the brain. It’s helpful to use mudras along with meditation, pranayama and asana postures to promote healing and balance in the body, between the elements and the chakras.

Kids surprised me with their quick grasp of Sanskrit, asana, and biomechanics.
Children and teens aren’t just miniature adults. From their anatomy to their attention span, there are fundamental differences that influence how kids move through yoga poses and through class. Understanding these differences is key to keeping kids safe on the mat, while also keeping them engaged in your class and, of course, having fun is very important.
The teenage brain is both complex and developing quickly. Learning yoga practises at this stage in development can be a game-changer in dealing with hormonal fluctuations, and this provides teens with lifetime tools for stress management.
Childhood is a uniquely opportune time of life for learning and integrating yoga practises. Learning during this period is rapid because the brain’s intellectual power and learning capacity are at a near-maximum. So, get your child enrolled for a Yoga class.

Is your Car at right Parking?
Life is full of interruptions. We need to keep moving. We park ourselves somewhere and then we move again. Now if you park in a wrong place, you need to move sooner, and if you park in the right place, you have freedom to move when you want to. Similarly, you have to park your mind in a safe place. If you have parked your mind in your own garage, nobody can tell you when you should move it. But if you park your mind in somebody else’s garage, they will be after you.
Don’t give your life’s authority in somebody else’s hand. If you do, you will have no freedom. And when you lose freedom, the next thing you lose is love and compassion, because someone who is stifled cannot express their compassion or love. So, take care of the car called mind which drives you. You should drive the mind rather than the mind driving you. Wisdom empowers you to drive the mind. Otherwise the mind is driving; it is an automated car which goes on its own.

In Sanskrit, the word “chakra” means “disk” or “wheel” and refers to the energy centers in your body. These wheels or disks of spinning energy each correspond to certain nerve bundles and major organs. There are seven main chakras that run along your spine. They start at the root, or base, of your spine and extend to the crown of your head.
A great way to promote balance in a chakra is to create alignment in your physical body through:
🕉 Yoga postures
🕉 breathing practices to encourage the flow of energy
🕉 meditation to bring about clarity of mind
Locating and analyzing the chakras can help in healing old emotional and physical wounds. The practice of yoga ultimately leads us to a state of union, which is possible when we create a state in our body where energy can flow freely from the base of the spine (the Root Chakra), through and beyond the top of the head (the Crown Chakra). When energy can flow freely through us like this, we can achieve a state of union with the cosmic energy, which flows through all living things.
