In 1948, at the Carmelite Monastery in Lipa, Batangas, Philippines, during the reported apparitions of Our Lady as Mediatrix of All Grace to young postulant Teresita Castillo, a heavenly shower of rose petals began to fall.

Witnesses—nuns, pilgrims, and visitors—described fresh, fragrant petals raining down from the sky, sometimes inside the cloister and sometimes outside, even against the wind.

The greatest wonder? Many of these petals bore intricate sacred images — of Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Holy Family, the Crucifixion, saints, and other holy scenes.

According to historical accounts and reports from the time (including examinations referenced by scientists and experts):

⬩ Microscopic analysis reportedly showed no broken veins, no creases, and no damage to the petal’s natural structure.

⬩ There were no signs of stamping, painting, drawing, or artificial imprinting.

⬩The images appeared too fine, too detailed, and too perfectly integrated into the petal itself to have been created by human hands.

⬩ Some images reportedly became visible or clearer only later — when held to the light or after time in the possession of the faithful.

⬩ Many who studied them concluded these could not have been made by human hands.

Over the decades, countless testimonies of physical healings, spiritual conversions, and graces have been linked to these petals. Devotees from the Philippines and around the world continue to treasure and pray with preserved examples.

While the Catholic Church’s official position (per the 1951 declaration by Philippine bishops, approved by the Holy See under Pope Pius XII, and later reaffirmed) states that the events do not have a supernatural character, the story of the Lipa rose petals continues to inspire millions to deeper love for Our Lady, the Rosary, and prayer for priests.
