Monsoon tip for Oily skin
Even though the summer heat is almost gone, facial skin tends to become oily due to the humid weather. “Those with oily skin should be extremely careful during the monsoons. The skin tends to get oilier and eventually lead to breakouts.”
If you have oily skin, make sure to use a light-weight moisturiser after bath. Scrub your face twice in a week to remove dirt and grime. Before stepping out in the sun, apply a water or a gel-based sunscreen with an SPF 30, to avoid tanning. Use a floral toner before bedtime to keep your skin hydrated. Opt for light-weight and water-proof make-up during this time.

Dry hair can drive you crazy at times. Learn a few simple ways to tame those tresses and look gorgeous always.
Everyone has a bad hair day once in a while. However, when you have dry hair you seem to have bad hair days more often than people with other types of hair. This is because dry hair brings with it a host of problems. These include frizziness, split ends, dandruff, etc. Here are some measures you can use to make it more manageable and keep it looking great.
Drink lots of water
In most cases, people have dry hair because their bodies are simply not getting the required daily fluid intake. Seventy-five percent of the human body is made up of water. When your body loses some of its water content, it starts drawing in the water from those parts of the body that need it less. This is to supply water to the essential organs like the heart, lungs, liver, etc. Consequently, your skin and hair are the first to suffer from the lack of water in your body.
To combat this effect, make sure that you drink adequate amounts of water each day. You should aim to consume at least 8-10 glasses of water every day. Avoid substituting water with other liquids such as juices, colas, coffee, etc. Colas and coffee usually have caffeine in them that acts as a diuretic. This will speed up the loss of water from your body. In the case of juices, the sugar content in them is very high which could again lead to health problems like diabetes. There is just no substitute for plain water.
Oil your hair
Along with being properly hydrated, your hair also needs to be enriched with natural oils. This will soften your hair and provide it with the nourishment it requires. Olive oil is considered to be the best oil to achieve healthy hair. Try and cook your food in olive oil and see the difference it makes to your hair. For a quick fix just before you go out, apply a little olive oil to your hair to make it easier to comb and style. If olive oil is too expensive an option, you could use a cheaper alternative like coconut oil.
Shampoo less often
The problem with dry hair is that it is already running low on nutrients. Hence, you cannot afford to lose these nutrients from your hair as they will take a long time to get replenished. The chief cause of this loss of nutrients from hair is excessive shampooing. Most shampoos are full of chemicals like acids and detergents. While they do a great job of ridding your hair of dirt and grime, they also tend to strip away the natural protective layer of oil that covers your hair. For people with normal or oily hair, this is not really a problem as the lost oil layer is replaced soon. However, people with dry hair cannot replace the oil layer so quickly, which leaves the hair dry and frizzy.
Avoid shampooing your hair too often if it is prone to dryness. Shampooing your hair twice a week is enough to keep it clean. At the same time, it will prevent the excess loss of oil from your hair. Also keep an eye on the brand of shampoo you are using. Opt for a mild shampoo that contains only small amounts of chemicals in it. This will be less harsh on your hair. If possible, choose a shampoo made out of natural ingredients like aloe vera.
Condition your hair
Merely shampooing your hair is not enough. It needs to be supplemented with further treatments to protect your hair. The most important after-shower care is provided by hair conditioners. A conditioner forms a kind of protective layer over the hair and seals in its moisture. This goes a long way towards preventing your hair from breaking or developing split ends. Again, preferably choose a conditioner with natural ingredients. It need not be an expensive brand name. Many local beauty stores have their own brands which are cheaper and perform the same function.
You could also keep a bottle of leave-in conditioner on hand. A leave-in conditioner is a conditioning product that can be used on hair when it is either damp or dry. If your hair feels a bit frizzy during the day, just apply a small amount to your hair to smoothen out the frizz.

Skin polishing is one of the ways to enhance the beauty of skin. You can try skin polishing remedies either by visiting beauty parlours or at home. Read on to know how you can carry out skin polishing technique at home for enhancing the beauty of your skin naturally.
Skin polishing in simple words is a special technique of exfoliating skin. The dead cells are removed which helps new and healthy cells to come in place of that and the skin looks clean and polished. So, if you want to give your skin a nice and fresh glow, you can go for skin polishing.
Why Skin Polishing?
Our skin is exposed to a variety of things like sun rays, dust, pollution and many more. This makes it lose the natural luster and shine. Well, we need to exfoliate our skin at regular intervals so that we can protect it from the adverse effects of these attacking elements.
Skin care has always been an important part of the routine for every man and woman. But, the amount of exposure and roughness that our skin faces these days, the time given to it in the hectic schedule is very less. However, the best thing is that we can exfoliate or polish our skin at home and you do not even have to spend a lot of time for that.
Skin Polishing at Home
The basic things that we need for skin polishing at home are as follows:
Pure olive oil
Exfoliating sugar body scrub
Pumice stone
Skin exfoliating kit
Starting from the face, you should keep in mind that the skin of the face is sensitive and so you need gentle exfoliant for that. First use warm water to moisten your face and then use the exfoliant. Using circular motion gently rub taking care of the soft areas around eyes. If you suffer from acne, avoid mechanical polishing and also use a facial peel before this so that your skin gets smoother.
To polish your body, take a warm water bath and steam up your bathroom. Apply olive oil all over the body and wait for 10 minutes. Apply gentle sugar body scrub all over your body with the help of polishing cloth. Make sure your movements are circular. You can apply slightly more pressure so that your skin gets exfoliated thoroughly. If you use pumice stone to rub your knees, heels and elbows, apply Vaseline before you do that.
Now, you can rinse your body with warm water. Gently rub with your hands and you can leave the olive oil so that it keeps your body moisturised. Do not rub your skin with towel after polishing it. Pat dry and that too gently.
There is no need to rub your skin hard. Also, remember that it is enough to exfoliate your skin twice weekly. You will get a flawless and perfectly shining skin.
Natural Skin Polishing
There are some other combinations of elements for skin polishing.
Brown sugar and jojoba oil - Mix ½ cup of jojoba oil, 1 cup of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of orange oil and 4 - 5 capsules of Vitamin E in a bowl.
Sugar and strawberry scrub - Mix ½ spoon of almond oil, two ripe strawberries mashed and 10 teaspoons of raw sugar and prepare the body scrub.
Baking soda and aloe vera - Take two tablespoon of baking soda and add fresh aloe vera juice to it.

Now you have learnt the technique and you have some options too. Pamper your skin with these treatments and do give it a try. It will help you achieve the radiance you are looking for.

Hand Care
We often forget to take care of our hands. Through we use our hands to do all the work in and outside the house we seem to pay very little attention to taking care of them. Our hands come in contact with water, chemicals, is subject to heat and cold, we work with our hands in the garden etc. all this puts stress on the skin of our hands. The first signs of aging are visible on our hands. Here are a few ways in which you can take care of the skin of your hand.
Moisturize your hands as many times as you can in a day. Dry skin looks wrinkled and can easily be damaged.
Wear gloves while washing dishes, dealing with chemicals and while gardening.
Protect the skin on your hands from the sun.
Ensure that your hands are dry. If you have water on your hands it will evaporate drying your skin.
Take special care of your hands once a week. Give your hands a herbal oil massage once a week.
Here are a few hand treatment ideas:
Herbal Hand Bath: Boil one quarter of water and add one tablespoon of herbs (use one or all of these: chamomile, nettle, sage, coltsfoot, calendula). Let this mixture cool and soak your hands in it for 15-20 minutes. Dry your hands thoroughly and apply nourishing moisturizer.
Homemade Nourishing Hand Cream: Mix one teaspoon of honey with 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Add one tablespoon of strong herbal mixture. This will make a very rich cream, that will take a while to absorb, but will make your hands soft and smooth.
For dry skin: Mix one tablespoon glycerin, one egg yolk, two tablespoons of vegetable oil, juice of one lemon, 3 to 4 ounces of herbal infusion or rose water. Apply this once or twice a week.
Mashed potatoes with milk make a great hand mask.
After cooking with eggs, before you throw the eggshells away, scrape out the remaining egg white and massage it into your hands.
Rub a piece of lemon on your hands to give your skin a more even tone.
After washing dishes with detergents wash your hands with sour milk or with a vinegar and water solution (1 tablespoon of vinegar per 2quaters of water). This will restore the pH balance of the skin.
Keep your hands warm as colds often start as a result of cold hands.

Millions of women around the globe suffer from exactly the same problem: frizzy, uncontrollable and untidy locks.
Just as a woman with a low metabolism rate will need to exercise more to lose weight, so also, a woman with frizzy hair will need to put in additional effort if she wants her hair to look good. Simply shampooing and conditioning hair is not adequate 'not if you want to get rid of the frizz.'
Moisture
Hair which is naturally frizzy lacks moisture and protein. Thus, the first step you need to take is to ensure your hair has sufficient moisture.
Apply egg yolk to your hair around half an hour before washing your hair.
Wash your hair with a moisturizing shampoo, and follow up with a conditioner. Unless you exercise, you need wash your hair only once a week.
Invest in leave-in conditioner. After washing and conditioning, towel dry hair and apply a small amount of leave-in conditioner to the ends of your hair.
Styling your hair
If your hair is frizzy, you will need to spend some time styling it if you want it to look good. Do you want to go straight or curly? Once you have that worked out, apply a generous dollop of gel to damp hair to hold the style and to tame frizzies, and get started.
Curly:
Apply rollers and leave them on until your hair dries completely. Avoid applying heated rollers unless essential. You could also apply sponge rollers at night, and remove them the next morning.
Straight:
If you want to straighten your hair instead, blowdry it straight with the help of a round brush.
Blowdrying all your hair together will be of little use; you need to blowdry small sections at a time.
Clip up the damp, unstyled hair with the help of two clips, and proceed to blowdry small sections, starting from the back of your head.
When the hair is almost dry, reduce the heat of the blow dryer so you don't over-dry it.
Be patient. The entire process may take half an hour. Don't rush it, or you will not get the results you want.
Grow your hair long, as short hair tends to curl faster. If your hair is long, due to the weight, the curls open up. Your hair would be far easier to blowdry, and it will stay straight longer.
Oil
Safflower oil is excellent for frizzy hair. When your hair is completely dry, after styling it, apply 2-3 drops of safflower oil to your palms and rub them together. Apply this oil to the ends of your hair. Use more oil for longer hair, but ensure that the amount you apply is very little, so your hair does not look sticky. Leave this oil on in your hair. This will help tame the frizzes.
Chemical Treatments
You could consider going in for a perm, so your frizzes get converted into glossy curls. If you long for straight hair, you could also opt for a straightening treatment, though a perm is less harsh than chemical straightening.
Whether you decide to perm or straighten your hair, you cannot afford to neglect it after the treatment as it could get damaged. But as long as you take care of your hair, oil it regularly, wash it gently and follow up with a conditioner, there should be no problem even after getting a chemical treatment done. Similarly, avoid going in for two chemical treatments together. If you must perm or straighten your hair, do not highlight it and vice versa.
Minimal Fuss
If you would rather not blowdry or style your hair, but simply want your frizzes to be manageable, here's what you could do:
Start growing your hair long.
After shampooing and conditioning, apply a few drops of oil to your damp hair.
Apply a generous amount of gel to your hair.
Brush your hair well, and then plait it.
When dry, open up the plait, and apply a little more gel to the ends of the hair, to tame any frizzes.
The result? Your hair may not look silky, but it will not be spreading out in all directions. The 'bushy' effect will be dramatically reduced, and your hair will look wavy and in control.
