Ways to use Barkha ⛈️

There is one thing that we get asked quite a lot about Barkha and it's always "how do we use the fragrance?"

Barkha is pure petrichor filled in a bottle. In simple words, it's the fragrance of the wet earth drenched in the first rains of the season.

It's refreshing and happy. Almost everyone loves it but not many prefer to put it on their clothes and carry it on them all day long.

But then how do you use it?

Here we have listed a few ways to use Barkha.

The fresh, happy vibe of the start of monsoon can be experienced all year long in your home by using Barkha in electric or organic diffusers.

We suggest diluting it with water before putting it in the diffuser.

You can always DM us to know the correct ratio of the ittar to water.

You can also dab a few drops of it on a wrist and rub it with the other. This way you can carry the fragrance with you all day and smell it whenever you want!

We also love spraying a few drops of diluted Barkha on our curtains, towels and bedding to have our home smelling like fresh rains everyday!

To enhance the aromatherapy experience, you can also put in a few drops of the oil to homemade candles. We recently tried doing it with Sharaar and it worked wonders for us!

For any doubts and enquiries, feel free to DM us!  ❤️⛈️

Quintessentially Desi fragrances: Mogra

I was born and raised in Mumbai. The hustle and bustle of the city never felt alien to me. Belonging to an ordinary middle class family meant that railway stations and bus stops were always a part of my life... And so were the hawkers flocking the streets around them.

My first encounter with the Mogra was during one such visit to the railway station. Those who belong to the city are well aware that railway stations in the suburbs are not just meant for boarding trains and buses. They have always been the undefeated title holders of being the designated market place of the area and were gloriously in their prime during the pre-mall era!

One such flower vendor sat outside the ticket window with these gorgeous flowers that I fell in love with, that day. Long strings of these dainty little white blooms magnificently hung in a bunch from a stick held by him. The sight mesmerised me then and has always continued to do ever since!

With time the humble Mogra grew to become an indispensable part of my life. What once was a simple oblation offered to the goddess during festivals slowly became a symbol of romance. Marathi cinema introduced me to the concept of the husband buying these gajras for his wife on his way home from work, to timidly illustrate his love for her!

However, the wait for the one who would buy a Mogra gajra for me seemed endless and I eventually gave in to the temptation of buyin these little beauties for myself. Self love you see! I wouldn't even wear them in my hair on most days. Just carry them around in my bag or have them tucked in a corner of my desk, only to wallow in its fragrance all day.

From growing up watching my mother buy these gajras for herself and the other ladies in the family to having them embellish my hair on my wedding day, Mogra has and will always be a sweet, fragrant part of my life... and my shopping list every time I visit the railway station. Or, atleast until my husband starts buying them for me! 🤞
