Have been having some really good results with new techniques to work this really important muscle in your neck. It holds on to lots of tension and can cause pain, discomfort and migraines.
Had some great feedback this week from a new client and a returning client.

It’s good to get feedback even when it’s not good and you don’t feel better after a treatment as we can then try to work out why and what you may need instead.
Just spent a great day with Chris Duquemin at New Vision Therapy learning cranial therapy. Chris is excellent at sharing his knowledge and guiding you whilst your learning. This was my favourite workshop of the 4 so far. Looking forward to using the new skills

EAT
Eat well and keep it healthy
Eat good food straight after training
SLEEP
Only have plans for 2 nights a week. otherwise relax, get into a regular sleep pattern
Have one rest day every 2 weeks
BODY
Have Sports Massage every 2 weeks
Do Yoga and/or Pilates at least once a week. Yoga with Kassandra on YouTube has really good short sessions and you can do a great session in 20 mins.
Warm up before runs.
Get up from your desk at least twice a day and walk around.
TRAINING
Any niggles swap and do a swim session instead
Build up slowly.

Happy New Year. Have you made New Year’s resolutions to be more active, exercise every day or maybe you have already signed up for a 10k or marathon or a triathlon this year. You can sign up for Dementia Jersey 50 mile challenge whereby you run or walk 50 miles in January or Run Every Day (RED) January. Great. It is great to have a challenge or a goal and it helps to get us motivated to get outside even when the weather is bad . The benefits of exercise for physical and mental health are excellent and you can always exercise with friends or join like minded groups.
Make sure that you start off slowly or steady. You want to progress as you go through the month. It’s always best to end a session feeling like you want to do more rather than limping home with a sore calf or hamstring and having to take a week off or stop completely because you overdid it on your first few days. If you spend most of the day sitting at a desk do some mobility work before heading out to warm up and get your circulation going. Body weight squats, lunges, hoping, double footed jumps, calf raises to'prepare your body for exercise. Also make sure you are wearing the right shoes for running or walking to support you.
If starting from scratch run/walk sessions are a great way to start and build up gradually. Maybe run a minute walk a minute, run 2 minutes, walk a minute to build up your stamina. Also don’t worry about your pace. Little and often is best and you will gradually notice your fitness build up through the month so that as February approaches you are keen to keep going. The mornings and evenings will be getting lighter and you will be feeling good.
Look after yourself. Treat yourself to a massage for any niggles or tight sore muscles. Try to include some Pilates or yoga workouts to work on your mobility. I enjoy Yoga with Kassandra on YouTube. She does great short stretching/yoga sessions to help release tension and her sessions are easy to follow.
Also remember to keep hydrated, plenty or water or herbal teas.
