Financial Sponsor of “Mum Can We Buy…” 😭
Expected daily soundtrack:

“Mum can we go to the water park?”
“Mum can we go somewhere?”
“Mum can we get ice cream?”
“Mum there’s nothing to eat.” (after eating everything in the house 😭)
“Mum can my friend come over?”
“Mum can we go to Walmart?” (for absolutely no reason 😭)
“Mum can we get snacks?”
“Mum can we stay up late?”
“Mum she touched me!”
“Mum she looked at me!”
“Mum it’s too hot outside!”
5 minutes later…
“Mum we are bored inside.” 😭
“Can we sleep in the living room?”
“Can we stay awake till 2AM?”
“The Wi-Fi is slow!”

Our 11-year-old shared this animation yesterday.
So naturally I asked, “Baby…how long did this take?”
She casually says: almost 30 hours. 😭
THIRTY.
Apparently this is what the animation world calls frame-by-frame animation — where you literally draw hundreds (sometimes thousands!) of tiny pictures to create movement. Basically old-school cartoon style… the same painful patience behind the cartoons many of us watched growing up.
Me? I got tired just hearing the explanation. 😭
Now let me tell you something.
Last year this child wanted an iPad. We had just settled in America and honestly… that request was above our pay grade. She had even downgraded her dream from a gaming console to “just an iPad.”
In our family, when we pray, I tell the kids: ask God for something specific — something impossible enough that when it comes, you know exactly where it came from.
For 3 months, her prayer never changed.
“God, I want an iPad.”
Finally I told George, “We cannot afford this one. Let’s ask her Father in heaven.” 😭
A week later… it arrived.
Since then we discovered this child quietly had a YouTube channel, taught herself animation, and now spends 30 HOURS drawing frame by frame while the rest of us are trying to survive laundry.
Dear Gen X and Millennials… times have changed.
Yes, some entertainment is unhealthy. Some games, music, movies — like anything in life — can go left.
But some of us may need to stop dismissing our children’s virtual worlds and start understanding them.
Because sometimes… that “screen addiction” is actually art, storytelling, creativity, skill, discipline… and maybe even purpose.
Also, pray for me because I still don’t fully understand why anyone voluntarily draws 1,000 pictures instead of sleeping. 😭
🤣🤣 When you pay for a low budget Movie!

We are officially entering the “Freshman, Sophomore…whatever comes after that” era. 😭😀
Yesterday our bebe girl graduated from junior high to senior high and made the Honor Roll! 🎉 Proud parent moment unlocked.
As we walked out, Damitta stopped to say goodbye to the school cop. And let me tell you…my African brain malfunctioned. 😭
Because where I come from, if an African is taking a smiling photo with a police officer, three things are happening:
1. You are related.
2. You are married.
3. You are under arrest but pretending to be calm for the photo. 😀
But here? These school cops are like uncle/big brother/social worker vibes. They know the kids, joke with them, encourage them…sometimes even look like backup parents.
4 eggsample. Last week…for the first time in my life…Mama Kaylene was pulled over for overspeeding. 😭
Me. Overspeeding.
The woman who drives like she has all the time in the world and personally knows snails.
The officer was so kind, gave me a warning and now I drive with such fear I may soon be stopped for under-speeding.
Maybe one day back home our officers will be so well paid, well supported, and less stressed that wananchi stop fearing sirens like judgment day has arrived. 😭
Anyway…congratulations our middle child.
Senior High, here we come! ❤️
Important notice🤣
Don't tell your mother😜
I lived to tell the tale!!
