HOW TRUE IS THIS RESEARCH??
A new study is raising alarm after finding that chemicals commonly associated with pipes, pesticides, and floor tiles are present in some wigs, braiding hair, and extensions sold to Black women.
Researchers from the Silent Spring Institute examined 43 products bought online and in beauty supply stores and detected 169 different chemicals, including flame retardants, pesticides, and substances used to stabilise plastics.
The findings are intensifying calls for tighter regulation, clearer labelling, and better protection for consumers who may face repeated, long-term exposure through everyday hair use.

POLICY IS THE ANSWER
Sometimes we value money more than our dignity but the truth is there is a gap in terms of policy. We are working on massage treatments policies.
Here are the standard policies that guide massage treatment in a professional, ethical, and lawful setting. These policies are used in legitimate massage clinics and spas to protect clients, therapists, and the business.
Policies in Massage Treatment
1. Scope of Practice Policy
Massage is therapeutic and non-sexual
Only approved massage techniques are offered
No services outside the therapist’s training or qualification
2. Consent Policy
Informed consent must be obtained before treatment
Client is informed about:

Therapists wear appropriate professional attire
No alcohol, drugs, or smoking before or during duty
Respectful communication at all times
9. Payment and Service Transparency Policy
Clear pricing displayed
Payment only for lawful massage services
No hidden charges or illegal offers
10. Complaints and Incident Reporting Policy
Clients may report concerns without fear
Incidents documented and investigated
Corrective or disciplinary action taken if needed
11. Referral Policy
Clients referred to medical professionals when necessary
Therapists do not diagnose medical conditions beyond their role
12. Legal and Regulatory Compliance Policy
Spa/clinic must be licensed
