Ever wondered just how we get castor oil from - or better yet, where the term "Black" castor oil derivates from? We wondered too and got our sleuthing caps on - Sherlock Holmes has nothing on us😁 . Here is a brief description of our findings: Castor oil is created by extracting the oil from the seeds — also known as beans — of the castor oil plant. Once cold-pressed, this oil looks transparent and pale yellow, like a lighter-coloured version of the vegetable oil we use for baking.

Black castor oil also comes from castor beans, which is why it shares a similar name to traditional castor oil. However, the method of extraction is different, traditional black castor oil process involves the seeds are roasted before being crushed in a mortar.

Water is then added to the mashed beans, and the entire mixture is slow-boiled over a fire. That being said these quick tips will sure come in handy the next time you need to trawl up black castor oil benefits. Happy hump day:)

Are you using Black Castor Oil on your hair? What is it and how is it beneficial to your hair? Castor oil is probably best known for its hair benefits. Packed with vitamins that locks love to guzzle on, the oil can help to smooth and nourish stressed hair, leaving a fresh out of the salon sheen. Its colour is usually clear or pale yellow unless it is derived through roasting or boiling, which is known as black castor oil. Now that you are in the know, spritz some Sheth Naturals Mizizi Black Castor love to your hair, not all hair growth is bad growth😉
