Did you know that there are tons of benefits your hair gets by just washing it with conditioner???? 🦋🦋
Yep! That's called CO-WASH which is short for "conditioner only wash"🌞
Benefits of co-wash:🌴
✨Puts an end to dry, frizzy hair by adding moisture.
✨Your hair becomes smoother, softer and easy to manage therefore no tangles or knots.
✨Helps to get rid of dandruff since it gently cleanses your scalp
✨Conditioners clean your hair without having to strip off your hair's natural oils (unlike shampoos)
✨Better curl definition due to moisture
How to co-wash:🌴
✨Fully saturate your hair with water
✨Squeeze out the amount of conditioner that you need
✨Wash your scalp to remove build up, then add some conditioner to your strands
✨Then rinse and follow up with your leave in conditioner
When to co-wash?🌴
✨You can cowash biweekly, weekly or after two weeks depending on your hair routine. Just alternate during your wash days e.g Let's say last Saturday you washed using your shampoo, this Saturday don't wash with your shampoo but use a conditioner.
Have you ever co-washed your hair? If so, how was it?
Let's Talk About Hair Porosity!
What is hair porosity?🌴
Hair porosity is your hair's ability to absorb and retain moisture. The porosity of your hair affects how well oils and moisture pass in and out of the outermost layer of your hair, known as the cuticle.
Why is it important for one to know their hair porosity?🌴
Knowing your porosity allows you to treat and manage your hair most effectively with the right routine for your strands. Each level of porosity comes with its own advantages and challenges, so knowing them and their characteristics plus your own hair's porosity will only aid your healthy hair journey.
This is how you should take care of your hair, after knowing its porosity:🌴
Low porosity
✨Your hair takes a while to get fully saturated, products are not easily absorbed and it's prone to dryness.
✨Best oils to use are argan, jojoba, avocado, baobab, sunflower and grapeseed oils.
✨Use heat when deep conditioning
✨Use butters and heavy oils sparingly to avoid build up
✨Moisturize using the LCO method
✨Wash with warm water
Medium porosity
✨Absorbs and maintains moisture well, can be prone to build up dryness and over moisturization
✨Protein treatments after 6-8weeks
✨Use light oils e.g almond, macadamia, argan oil
✨Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner
✨Deep condition regularly with heat
✨Use heavy butters to seal
High porosity
✨Easy to receive moisture and it's easy for moisture to escape therefore moisturize regularly
✨Prone to frizz
✨Incorporate regular protein treatments
✨Use aloe Vera Juice before a moisturizer
✨Avoid heat at all costs
✨Deep condition regularly
✨Use heavy products to seal in moisture
✨Moisturize using LOC method
What's your porosity? 🌴

How do I add moisture to my hair?
✨ Aloe Vera Juice
✨Water based leave in conditioner
Other ways to add moisture to your hair?
✨Water
✨Rose water
✨Water mixed with vegetable glycerin
✨Aloe Vera Juice infused with fenugreek seeds.

Don't forget to:
✨Deep condition your hair after every wash
✨Cover your hair in a satin bonnet
✨Drink a lot of water
✨Seal in the moisture with an oil or butter
PS:
✨Don't over moisturize your hair for this will cause hydral fatigue
✨Oil is a sealant NOT a moisturizer
