Mary Esther Were wins the Miss Green Planet Kenya pageant

Mary Esther Were, 24, is the new Miss Green Planet Kenya. She was selected at the first Miss Green Planet pageant at the Sixeighty Hotel, Nairobi. With the title, Mary will receive Ksh.500,000 prize and represent Kenya at the international Miss Green Planet contest in Canada in April 2013.Mary's main duty will be raising awareness about the effects of climate change and especially building partnerships for the Kenya Rivers Restoration Project.

Mary was a finalist in the 2007 Face of Africa International modeling auditions, top 5 finalists in the 2008 Ford Models fair and a top 10 finalist in the most recent Miss World Kenya modeling fair 2011.

She is a student at Daystar University where she is specializing in Bachelor Of Arts Degree In Communication With a Minor in Public Relations.

Runner Up
The first runner up position position went to Hazel Karau,18. Hazel is a student at Strathmore University where she taking Bachelor of Business Science in Financial Economics. She will receive Sh. 200,000 prize.

The second runner up position went to Lucy Njeri Kiarie, who has just graduated with Masters in Environmental Studies at Kenyatta University. Lucy will receive Ksh. 100,000.

FINALLY- Miss Green Planet Kenya pageant just concluded at 680 Hotel Nairobi. Names of new national titleholder and other Prize Winners to be released by midnight. Thanks to all the staff members, judges, organizers, host and volunteers who went beyond the call of duty to make this event a success.

UPDATE-We thank the 35 contestants who entered the Miss Mazingira Kenya 2012 contest by deadline of 5pm Monday. Applications for the 2012 contest scheduled for Sept 28-29 is now closed. Contestants should check their emails for communications Tuesday morning. Please try to confirm everything by 3pm Tuesday in order to make certain reservations. Clear your calendar Thursday afternoon and the whole of Friday and Saturday. The pageant Event officially kicks on Friday 28th 8am with tree planting at Nairobi river.
