SRI LANKA 🇱🇰

The history of Sri Lanka is intertwined with the history of the broader Indian subcontinent and the surrounding regions, comprising the areas of South Asia, Southeast Asia and Indian Ocean.

The early human remains found on the island of Sri Lanka date to about 38,000 years ago (Balangoda Man).

The historical period begins roughly in the 3rd century, based on Pali chronicles like the Mahavansa, Deepavansa, and the Choolavansa. They describe the history since the arrival of Sinhalese from Northern India[1][2][3][4] The earliest documents of settlement in the Island are found in these chronicles. These chronicles cover the period since the establishment of the Kingdom of Tambapanni in the 6th century BCE by the earliest ancestors of the Sinhalese. The first Sri Lankan ruler of the Anuradhapura Kingdom, Pandukabhaya, is recorded for the 4th century BCE. Buddhism was introduced in the 3rd century BCE by Arhath Mahinda (son of the Indian emperor Ashoka).

The island was divided into numerous kingdoms over the following centuries, intermittently (between CE 993–1077) united under Chola rule. Sri Lanka was ruled by 181 monarchs from the Anuradhapura to Kandy periods.[5][unreliable source?] From the 16th century, some coastal areas of the country were also controlled by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. Between 1597 and 1658, a substantial part of the island was under Portuguese rule. The Portuguese lost their possessions in Ceylon due to Dutch intervention in the Eighty Years' War. Following the Kandyan Wars, the island was united under British rule in 1815. Armed uprisings against the British took place in the 1818 Uva Rebellion and the 1848 Matale Rebellion. Independence was finally granted in 1948 but the country remained a Dominion of the British Empire until 1972.

In 1972 Sri Lanka assumed the status of a Republic. A constitution was introduced in 1978 which made the Executive President the head of state. The Sri Lankan Civil War began in 1983, including Insurrections in 1971 and 1987, with the 25-year-long civil war ending in 2009. There was an attempted coup in 1962 against the government under Sirimavo Bandaranaike.

The ancient giant canal is not actually a canal but a Dik lake that sits 54 miles long from Kalawa to Thisa Lake. The history of the Giant Canal, a unique design that sculptures the glory of the local vapi and irrigation that runs back two thousand years. When the son of Kashyapa, who was greedy for the kingship, asked the father King Dhathusena, "Come with me to show the wealth I earned for my country and the nation. Yay" After commanding his son, he has climbed on his seat and traveled along the giant canal. It is still popular even today. That sensitive history is torn along the giant canal.

The Kalaoya Mahavansa, which was born in Kalawewa, is introduced as the "Gona river" Art and cat lake existed in the first century, not as a lake - by Will. "Pliny" (Pliny), a preacher who came here during the era when the Tolami Lanka map was created, talks about a lake named "Megis Ba" (Megisba). This lake became the art and cat in the past.

A Kadawara story related to Kalawwa is still popular today. People think Kadavara that was there then as the God who protects the art now. Kadawara Visuye Mahasen king and poison king during the Vasabha. In the country where the tanks are built, the kings of Vasabha and Mahasen are considered as the tanks. Thus, it can be noted whether the beginning of the art was done by the poison king or the king Mahasen who was in the first century. King Dhathusena in the fifth century. C.I. W. King Dhathusena ruled the Anuradhapura capital for 18 years from 459 to 477. King Dhathusena recreated the art and cat lake into a large lake.

The giant canal was created by King Dhathusena from Kalawewa to Thisa lake 54 miles long. The first ten miles here is 6 inches per mile. That's one of the reasons the giant canal is considered an amazing design. A pregnant elite traveled through the front - there is also a public opinion in the area that the giant canal was cut through the way she stepped in. The Mahawanshaya says that King Dhathusena was built a giant canal 7 years before he was released from the kingdom. It is shown in the history that the Giant Canal passed water supply to 120 villages to 11400 acres of Ellanga systems to 120 village lakes through 180 square miles of fields that were spread in the giant canal net.

The Minipe - Elahara - Giant Canal constructed by the poison king has been built in the first century. This could be the beginning of the giant canal concept. The irrigation system known as the giant canal has spread across the body and protecting the body while studying the past irrigation System has spread across Rajarata and developed all areas of Rajarata. The giant canal concept has accomplished water exchange requirements such as moving water from lake to low drone, moving from lake to a lake for excess water storage. This is something that nature has not accomplished can be called a victory by man.

A giant canal has been cut from the top of Dambulu Oye to the Malwathu Oye during the reign of the second Sena King. Water has been taken from Malwathu Oya to Mahakanadara lake by a giant canal. Giant canals have all traveled from an overwater drill to a water dream drill.

C.I. W. In 290, King Mahasen cut a giant canal of Siyabalangamuwa from the cat lake and stored water in the high stone Siyabalaangamuwa lake. A canal has been cut to transport water to Mahavilachiya lake from Kalawwa giant canal and Anuradhapura Abhaya lake. A giant canal has been cut from Nachaduwa lake to transport water to Kandy lake. The other giant canal that took water from a lake to a lake are the giant canals that took water from Kala lake to Thisa lake. The main objective of the Giant Canal concept is to keep more water of the droni in Rajarata without flowing into the sea. Kings were interested before building giant canals by combining these tanks and drones like tanks were built across Rajarata, but by today most of these giant canals have been ruined.

About seven hundred years after King Dhathusena constructed the giant canal, King Parakramabahu renovated this giant canal and widely named it "Jaya Ganga".

Giant canal or the river Jayanga's bamboo is exactly like a bamboo. The bamboo is only on the downside here. The top is a slight slip ground. This giant canal flowed from 34 Ellanga, Mahakanumulla, Manawa, Kiralogama, Kiriwalheinna from Kala lake to Thissa lake. When Ellangawala water, rain water, Kala lake water, all these gathered together in the giant canal, it was always filled like a lake. Water has been provided not only to the fields under the Giant Canal but also to the fields and Ellangas that existed above the Giant canal. A giant canal has been cut and provided water to the lakes in Ainagama, Upper Lake, Marikaragama, Lower Lake, Upper Amanamulla Ellangawa through Mahakanumulla. This has died today so the above tanks are not getting water.

Giant canal protected the environment Due to the giant canal moving over the lakes, the mud was prevented from flowing into the lakes. Controlling the water of the tanks, there was a pit to get more water. Water that gathers to the giant canal through rains in Mahakanna - Water has been taken to the needed lakes and distributed. 48 watermelons installed in the canal were found across the giant canal. This "Diakali" fulfills the water needs of the wild animals and elephants which are wild every year.

Due to the new construction of Jayagaga by Mahaweliya, a part of the old giant canal, i.e. the portion of about 15 kilometers from Mahailuppallama was died. Somewhere the old giant canals have been cut through the canals in the new Victory. There are no giant canal in such places today. In some places, the new Jayagagaga has traveled from the lake that was built in ancient times. The new Jayagagaga is flowing at some places at the same time. In such places, Jayagagaga has been cut as deep as fifty-sixty feet Many villages in the Jayagagaga net are facing water shortage due to this deep cut in Jayagaga. It has become difficult for some villages to even get drinking water. Due to this fast flow of victory, the lakes that are connected to it are filled with goosebumps. Already the tanks where Kiriamunakole lake, Konwewa, Kiralogama lake are overflowing with ronmada. The new win has mostly destroyed the ecosystems. Mr. Mahinda Panapitiya, the irrigation engineer, who led to the construction of this new Jayagaga in mid 1975, has recently confessed that he has suffered serious damage by creating the new Jayagagaga. He is so willing to get this right again.

There are no bad qualities of this new victory in the old giant canal. Many missions that happened to the country and the people from the giant canal.

Underground water was able to maintain at a high level across the area where the giant canal was flowed. This is why many villages of Srika lakes were created in the Giant Canal. An ecosystem was created nourished by underground water. Was able to feed the Vapi crafts of the Vapi. The canals - net were heavier than trees to control the va**ng. The water collected during rainy season was able to release to the tanks during drought. "Diakali" located in the canals was eternal water springs. Back then, a giant canal was standing in the middle of Rajarata and fed the people and gambim.

People in the area often show the need to restore this magnificent creation for future generations. Also this should be done to preserve as a national heritage or a world heritage.

It is indeed a national mission of the era to restore and preserve the old giant canal. C.I. W. The giant canal was renovated for the first time around 1200 by the Mahaparakumbavas. Next, for the second time no one has put their hands on this giant canal renovation yet-. R. During the Jayawardena era, a "new Jayagagaga" was created to take Mahaweli water to Rajarata instead of the miraculous giant canal of Dhathusena Rajaguma. This happened not only King Dhathusena but also the local Vishwakarma Vapi architecture. Today also our historical heritage, the giant canal has gone to the forest, immigrants caught and died. The snake is a holy wasp. This is why the ancestors believed that God was engaged in the serpent. According to this, the gods who dressed in cobra are in protecting treasures, properties and temples. Water is also a great resource. Because of this, snake symbol has been used to protect water. This is why a cobra feather sign was used where a lake was built before. Knowing or without knowing the meaning, Mahaweliya has also been used as the symbol of cobra.
