THIS IS FOR OUR KARATE STUDENTS:
We all are going through an extremely difficult time due to Covid-19 Pandemic despite where you live in the world. We, the Kyudokan Higa-te School, urge you to stay at home, and train from home without going to the dojo. Kyudokan instructors over the world have already issued a message together, requesting you to stay at home, and to train from home. We consider your health and safety as the main priority at this moment. All the other things can be done later, if you stay healthy and pass this difficult time. Help your government, help your community and everyone's health by training from home.
I know many Kyudokan members over the globe watch my kata videos and use them as a basic guide (thanks for all your messages explaining how they helped your training). As requested by some of Kyudokan students, I made a short- 30 minute- video to help you with training from home. I understand that many of our Kyu grade practitioners are used to follow their instructor's count/command, and are having difficulties to train by themselves at home. I hope this video will help you with that. I included some essential kihon (basics) and Naihanchi Shodan kata, since they are easy to follow while facing a laptop/phone screen. Also, i believe this content will help students who live in small apartments with limited space. Consider this as a good time for go back to kihon/basics, and brush-up your kihon. Repeat and repeat... Your karate will improve as a whole.
Please note, this video can't replace your instructor. If there's any difference between what I do, and your sensei, please follow your sensei. He's your mentor. He knows better, always. This is just a guide for a short training session, NOT a technical or instructional video. I am not explaining anything I do in the video assuming that you have a basic knowledge of Kyudokan kihon. This is just a small contribution by me to the Kyudokan Higa-te practitioners at this difficult time.
Stay home, stay positive and train from home. Please follow the guidelines and regulations of your respective government and medical authorities. Members from other karate schools (especially from Shuri-te linage) may use this as a guide for their training, but with their own version of these techniques as taught in their schools.
Enjoy your training!
To Kyudokan Higa-te instructors:
Dear brothers and sisters,
Please feel free to share this among your students, if you think it will help them. This is a difficult time for all of us, especially for those who teach karate as their livelihood. This unexpected period will give us some time to sit back and think, explore the principles of our school and to go back to the basics.
Stay safe and positive! KYUDO MUGEN!
