BIOGRAPHY OF COMEDIAN MULELEMBA

Aubrey Isaac Mafumu Matiki alias Mulelemba is a renowned Malawian comedian, musician and academician. Originally from Chiradzulu district, Aubrey is the first born child in a family of five siblings.

Both his mother and father originally come from the same aforementioned district in Misanjo Village and Taimu Village respectively.

After attaining school going-age, Matiki attended different primary schools in Malawi. Some of them include Biwi in Lilongwe, St Pius in Blantyre and Nsoni in his home district. Thereafter, he attended his secondary school at Tsabango CDSS in Lilongwe.

After obtaining MSCE, he ventured into professions such as public relations, chartered marketing and strategic management. Then, he went back to school and ended up obtaining two degrees. One of them is Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication from the Polytechnic (now MUBAS).

Currently, the artist is doing his Masters Degree in Development Communication at Unima while continuing his teaching profession (lecturing) at the Polytechnic (now MUBAS) and College of Medicine (now Kamuzu College of Health Sciences).

Artistically, Matiki started drama when he was a primary school learner. After some years, he joined a number of drama groups like Nanzikambe and Wakumbata Esemba before being introduced to radio plays. The attist has been one of the characters in AIDS Toto, Tili Tonse, Zimachitika, Mbali Yanga and Tikuferanji comedy series.

Apart from the mentioned talent, Matiki is a producer and script writer. Another interesting fact is that Matiki used to be a traditional dance of Lhomwe dances like Mazoma and Tchopa. This probably raised his interest in doing music. He says coming from a family of chieftaincy made him to like dances and music intended for cultural expression.

Matiki is officially married and blessed with children. . One of his children is Princess, the rapper who's recently graduated with Bachelor of Arts Communication and Cultural Studies from the University of Malawi.

Religiously, Mulelemba is a Christian. He belongs to Church of Central African Presbyterian (CCAP).
