Blackheads are small bumps that appear on your skin due to clogged hair follicles. These bumps are called blackheads because the surface looks dark or black, usually around the area of your nose. Hence it is popularly referenced as strawberry nose.

❌ What causes blackheads ❌

Blackheads form when a clog or plug develops in the opening of hair follicles in your skin. Sebum oil produced in each follicle keeps your skin soft, too much of the oil will eventually clog the pores, producing a bump called comedo. If the bump is close to the skin, it is called a whitehead. When the bump is open and exposed to the air, it is oxidized and turns black, hence called a blackhead.
