We had an Environmental Talk about Protecting Our Ocean as they are considered to be beach community and also a workshop on making your own body scrub at home with natural ingredients found in your kitchen!

Done and dusted, soapmaking workshop with team MNS Selangor at Bukit Damansara Community Centre. About 6kgs of used cooking oil was turned into 7.5kgs of household soaps in 2 hours. Its really different teaching volunteers from environmental NGOs because the passion to reduce pollution and to do good for the environmebt is so strong that everything I shared is echoed in unison. I feel my passion being acknowledged, being replicated and being appreciated. I did not need to do much persuasion, because all who attended were there for the same reason - the welfare of Mother Earth!

Way forward, my hope is that this group will teach more of their members and volunteers about soapmaking from used cooking oil, about sustainable gifting, about turning environmental initiatives into acts of charity and all that comes along with the soapmaking skill!

This afternoon, we came together with the vibrant community of Cherating to create something beautiful: eco-friendly candles made using used cooking oil.

Not only did we share the basic art of candle-making, but we also emphasized sustainability by using locally-sourced, natural materials like beeswax, seashells and dried botanicals .This hands-on experience highlighted the importance of reducing waste, supporting local economies, and embracing sustainable practices.

We taught community to turn their used cooking oil into candles.

A circular economy aims to minimize waste and make the most of resources. By reusing materials, such as used cooking oil, we reduce the need for new resources and decrease environmental impact.

Instead of discarding used cooking oil, repurposing it for candle-making reduces waste. This practice not only conserves resources but also minimizes the pollution associated with improper disposal.

Teaching candle-making with recycled materials empowers community members with new skills. This can foster creativity and innovation while promoting sustainability.

This past two months we have seen the death of three adult tigers in our nation. A truly sad loss I would say. We mourn the loss of this majestic species by making Tiger Striped soaps.
