We had Ayam Goreng McD for dinner just now. The last time we had them was too long to remember. I think it was when they first introduced it in their menu. It didn't suit our taste buds.

On our last trip to Beijing, we had McDonald's fried chicken there. It was not bad. So, we decided to try it in Malaysia just to compare the taste.

The taste is different now. The regular one has strong heat from the pepper (not chillies). It can be considered spicy for those who can't tolerate spiciness. I cannot imagine how spicy it's gonna be for the spicy one.

We had 3 pcs chicken set and added apple pie into the order. Total was less than RM25. The chicken pieces were huge! It's nicely fried, so succulent. It's so crispy! We had them with rice that we cooked at home.

It's quite salty though. I'm currently drinking so much water. So thirsty after eating the chicken.

Now... I do understand why many said that they had shifted to eat McDonald's fried chicken instead of KFC.

Which one do you prefer? I don't mind any of them πŸ˜›

After about a 6-hour flight from Beijing, we're finally in KLIA. We had a long transit here. About 3-4 hours. Stumbled upon Rimba in KLIA. Something we've never noticed.

Apparently, it was previously known as the Jungle Boardwalk. It's a 970-square-meter nature sanctuary located in the Satellite Terminal (Building A) at KLIA Terminal 1.

If you feel cold or need some fresh air, this is one place for you to enjoy nature and the outdoor air.

There are real and fake plants. Oppss... Cannot say fake... People will be triggered. Need to be more cultured. You must say art installations...πŸ₯±

Anyway, you get to listen to the sounds of nature. Of course again... It's piped through the sound systems. You cannot say that the sounds are not real too. Sensitive wei... 🀣

Whatever... It's definitely something new to us. Nice to have some natural elements in the cold airport.

Entrance is free, and it is open daily from 8am-7pm. No wonder we never noticed it. It closes at 7pm.

Oh! While waiting, it's dinner time, but we just couldn't decide what to eat. Food in the airport is expensive 🀣 We cheapskate la... Then, I remember my friend brought us some pastries from near his home when we met. It's meant to be our breakfast as we have to go to the airport very early in the morning.

We ate the pastries instead. Good thing, they're not too sweet. The cow tongue biscuits were very different from what we had in the hotel and tourist spots.

This one tasted more flavourful, and the filling was generous! The taste of sugar, Sichuan pepper powder, and salt was stronger. The outer pastry was more solid. Quite heavy and less flaky.

There were also other local cakes and pastries in the box that we saw in Beijing, but we didn't try them because we're not fans of such food. Glad that we're given a box of them to taste, and it's from the neighborhood bakery. More authentic.

Again... The in-flight meal of MH for dinner was sigh... I just ate the rice. It's not nice and too spicy! I don't remember what it was. Even with the photo, I couldn't figure out what it was πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

So... That's the end of my . Where to next?

First time trying this mix. Hmm... I don't like the texture. It's already sweetened. So no extra syrup needed.

Arrived Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) at around 7.30am. I just found out I did take a photo of the breakfast the hotel gave us.

Anyway, PKX is futuristically designed. It's located 53 km south of Beijing's city center. Designed by Zaha Hadid. It features the world’s largest single-building terminal. The "starfish" design ensures passengers never walk more than 8 minutes to their gate.

It's located on the border of Beijing and Langfang, Hebei.
,
Upon entering the building, we were manually checked for explosives, but only a quick one. They checked us and our belongings with the tester. Only when it's cleared, we're allowed to go in.

Then, off to the check-in counter. We were told that any extra lock not belonging to the luggage's own locking system should be removed, as they will ask you to remove them after going through the scanner at the other end πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«. That's the experience of our guide.

So, to save the trouble, better remove it. I had to remove mine as my luggage didn't have the built-in lock. I was really worried that my bag might split open or people might place something inside during transit πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« They assured me it's very safe in Daxing, but I don't trust the Malaysia side... Luckily, nothing happened. I guess a new luggage is needed soon. Who knows other airports in the world have the same rules. 🀷

I didn't take many photos of the airport because going through security checks and clearing immigration were so near and quick. It's not far from the gate as claimed. Just took some photos of the departure hall. The highlight was the China Garden near Gate E83. Our gate was E88.

The in-flight food was sigh... I didn't want anything spicy, but ended up with the nasi lemak (not nice) because the noodles (not nice either) ran out. The chicken pie was 😐 MH food... Why like that?! At least the crews were great.

That's all. Bye Beijing. Welcome back to Malaysia in the next post.

My Beijing tour post is coming to an end soon! Anyway, sharing with you the food we had for lunch and dinner on the 6th day.

We had a rather late lunch. We didn't really know what to eat. Then, we bumped into other travel mates and we decided to walk together since everyone got no plan and didn't want to be outside as it's too hot.

First stop, we went to the supermarket, 7 Fresh. We're all more excited to see the supermarket than the tourist attractions haha! Everyone was still full from breakfast. We browsed the cooked food area, and one of us decided to get the roasted duck (RMB29+, it's so much cheaper than Kuching, smaller in size though) because it looked delicious! One person couldn't possibly finish the whole duck, so one person bought it so all of us could eat together. We also bought some roasted pork belly (RMB24+, don't remember the weight) to try. This is similarly priced to Kuching's.

6 of us had 1 duck and some pork belly. It's so filling! The duck was really nice! The best duck we had throughout the trip. Who would expect it to come from a supermarket πŸ˜› Pork belly was flavourful and crunchy, but a bit dry because there's a lot of fat on it.

You can actually buy the cooked food here and bring it to the dining area to eat. After eating, no need to clean up after yourself. We didn't know that. We cleaned up, and the staff said we didn't have to haha! Oh! You can also get them to cook the marinated/seasoned food in the supermarket on the spot too.
,
After lunch, we all went back to our rooms to rest.

Dinner, my friends came all the way from the city centre to meet us for dinner. About 1 hour plus drive here. Luckily they managed to avoid the peak-hour jam. Not sure where to eat as it's their first time here too.

We ended in a Chinese restaurant called Green Tea serving Hangzhou cuisine. Just sharing the photos. Food for 5 pax, a bit too much. Food was all good. My first time having bullfrog. It's just food. I do eat frog legs, so this is nothing.

Called it a night at 7.30pm. Had to pack and leave the hotel by 6.30am to the airport.

On our free & easy day, after breakfast, had a little rest, then we headed out to explore the neighborhood. Didn't go far. Just crossed a few roads. Our target was just walking to the other shopping mall.

on the way to the shopping mall, we came across a local market. We thought it was just a row of shops. Saw people coming out with fresh produce, we thought it's just a supermarket. We went in out of curiosity. Oh we're in for a surprise! It's a market! Just like our Petanak or Stutong market but more extensive. Cool!

It has two levels. The upstairs reminded me of Hopoh and Electra House back home πŸ˜› Downstairs sells vegetables, fruits, meat, seafood, flowers, and more! There's a pet shop, florists, and even food court. The food was big portion and so much cheaper. We didn't eat here because we're still stuffed from our breakfast.

However, we bought some fruit after visiting the smaller shopping mall on the way back to our hotel. Bought cherries and king lychee. Total was RMB60. I know... It's expensive, but you can't get all these with such price in Kuching πŸ˜› You might be paying maybe over RM300 if you get this amount of fruits in Kuching. I've seen Ta King selling this many cherries for a few hundred Ringgit, ok?!

Anyway, after the market, we walked past a hospital, then there's a metro station. After a bit of a walk from the metro station, we reached the shopping mall. It's so quiet... Workers more than customers 🀣 Just a quick visit and made our way back to the market to get some fruits then to our hotel.

Upon reaching the lift, bumped into some of our group members. They just started their day exploring. We're back already haha! It's already noon.

Had a rest, ate the fruits, then we went to the mall next to our hotel. That'll be the next post.

Let's take a break from Beijing. Let's come back to Kuching today πŸ˜›

We had lunch at Hsiang Noodle House at Ang Cheng Ho. It's located at the row behind Go Fun Kee at Ang Cheng Ho. It's not obvious. Apparently, it's been around for a few months already.

They specialized in braised beef noodles, prawn & pork dumplings, and wontons. They currently have an offer now. Order any food and get one teh o hot/cold at RM1 or iced peach tea at RM3.50.

We had the beef noodle soup (RM12), wanton noodle soup (RM11), and dry wonton (10 ocd for RM11). Actually I wanted to order dumplings but I ordered them wrongly haha... Nvm...

The beef noodle soup was quite salty to me. However, the beef was nicely cooked. Not gummy at all.

The wanton noodle soup was too bland. I only tasted the cooking wine. However, the wanton was not bad. We had the prawn+pork wantons. The filling was very generous and nicely seasoned. It has more meat fillings compared to other places. At other places', the skin is more than the filling and the size would be half of the size or smaller than here!

The dry wanton was a bit too salty for me.

Anyway, you can try this place out if you like dumplings, wantons, and noodles. We're really surprised with the generous filling.

This post is dedicated to the breakfast buffet of Wanda Moments Dongba Hotel. Our breakfast on the 6th day (10th June) in Beijing.

We were stuffed! Everyone took time to enjoy their breakfast here because it's a free and easy day. The food choices were extensive! We all ate a lot! So full that everyone went back to their room having a food coma 🀣 They went back to sleep after breakfast. We went out instead. That will be in the next post.

I just realized when doing this post, there were cow tongue biscuits too. Didn't try it. It's different from the previous hotel and what we bought from the food street. The filling looked more generous.

Also, they had sheng mian cha (η”Ÿι’θŒΆ). It's a classic Beijing breakfast made from millet flour. You're to make it yourself. There are instructions there. Mine was too diluted hehe... There's no sesame paste though. It tasted nutty and I could taste the sesame. It's good for digestion and to remove the heatiness from your body that caused your nose to bleed. Good for the hot summer.

I wish I could eat more food here but I'm already full!

Everyone had good feedback on the food here. So unfortunate that we could only eat breakfast here once. The next day, we had to leave the hotel very early, and there's no time at all for breakfast here. They did pack breakfast for us to eat on the bus. I forgot to take photos of them. It was underwhelming. We had 2 hard-boiled eggs, a yellow nectarine, a breakfast roll, and yogurt.

Anyway, that's all for today.

It's quite a distance to major tourist attractions in the city centre. Even taking DiDi is not that cheap. There are 2 entrances to the Wanda hotels here. We stayed at the one next to the mall entrance no. 3.

It's not recommended to stay here unless you are going somewhere nearby. The metro station is a bit of a walk from the hotel too.

The room is dark, even with all the lights on. The lobby is dark too.

The design of the room isn't user-friendly either. There's no place to hang your towel in the bathroom! Have to hang it on the door. Shorty like me had problem flinging my towel up the door 🀣

The water pressure and temperature were constant unlike the earlier hotel. However, the air conditioning acted the same way as the previous one. One moment cold, one moment stuffy. Good thing the toilet and bathroom are separated.

By the way, there's no refrigerator in the room. The rollaway bed was comfortable, not shaky. I found out that they're using King Koil.

It has a gym and swimming pool that guests can use. The hotel is connected to Wanda Plaza. The shopping mall is quite big.

After we got into our room, we went straight out to the mall to get dinner. Supposed to get KFC but no kiosk, had to download the app to order so we ended up with McDonald's for dinner. We bought 2 sets. It cost us RMB80+. The burger set was on 1/2 price offer. Otherwise, it will cost even more.

The burger and chicken were nice. The pineapple pie was quite sweet, while the fries were not as good as Malaysia's.

After dinner, we called it a night.

Will share more about the hotel and mall tomorrow.
