The Culinary Heritage and Arts Society Sarawak (CHASS) will stage the Gawai Carnival this weekend, Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May at the Hills Mall Kuching in welcoming our harvest festival this year.

Supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, this will be the 4th edition of the association’s event held to promote Sarawak’s heritage food and crafts.

Chairman of CHASS, Datin Dona Drury Wee said, "After a break of three years due to the lockdown, we are bringing back most of our calendar of events and activities. CHASS has since participated in several other events such as the Citrawarna, Kuching Jazz Festival, Spring Mall “Juh Singgah Makan” to name a few. It is time for us to revive our social enterprises' business activities to support them.

The two day event is filled with interesting and entertaining events such as food demonstrations with hands on experience for members of the public and free sampling, dances and jazz quartet performance as well as cultural entertainment."

A Tuak Cocktail Competition will also be held on 14th May with attractive cash prizes to be won. Available to all from 11am to 9pm at the Hills Mall, visitors are encouraged to register at the carnival for the lucky draws.
