(Those who persist in their evil ways will not cease from their false attributions to God, and from their harsh reaction to you) until when death comes to one of them, and then he implores: My Lord! Please, let me return to life, that I may act righteously with respect to whatever I have left undone in the world. No, never! It is merely a word that he utters over and over again. Before those (who are dead) is an intermediate world (of the grave, where they will stay) until the Day when they will be raised up. (Qur’an, Surah al-Mu’minun, 23:99-100).

Prophet Muhammad (sa), our mentor and teacher, supplicated to Allah in every salah (prayer), after the tashahhud (proclaiming Allah’s oneness) and before the tasleem, for protection against Dajjal (the concluding act in prayer where one says Assalamu alaykum). We can study the meaning of this dua and incorporate it into our prayers. We must seek refuge in Allah, who is All-Powerful.
According to Ibn Abbas (ra), the Messenger of Allah (sa) taught them this supplication in the same spirit as he taught them a surah (chapter) of the Quran. He’d tell them to say something like:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ “O Allah, we seek refuge from the anguish of hell with you. And I seek refuge with you from the anguish of the grave, from Dajjal’s (the false Messiah’s) trial, and from the trial of life and death.” (Muslim)
