Got it — Haematocrit HCT and Hemoglobin Hb are closely related. They both tell you about red blood cells + oxygen carrying capacity.

*What they mean*
1. *Hb - Hemoglobin*: The protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. Low Hb = anemia, tiredness, dizziness.
2. *HCT - Haematocrit*: The % of your blood that is actually red blood cells. Rule of thumb: HCT ≈ Hb x 3. So Hb 15 g/dL ≈ HCT 45%.

*If levels are off*
*Low Hb/HCT* → Anemia, blood loss, iron deficiency, chronic disease. Symptoms: fatigue, pale skin, shortness of breath.
*High Hb/HCT* → Dehydration, smoking, lung/heart disease, polycythemia. Blood gets thicker, higher clot risk.

Lab "normal" ranges can shift slightly depending on the lab machine + your age, altitude, smoking status.

If you just got results and they’re outside this range, a doctor/nurse should interpret them with your symptoms + history. Don’t self-diagnose from numbers alone.
