Age related macular degeneration is an eye disease that affects the central vision. This means people with macular degeneration can't see things directly in front of them. It mostly occurs in people above 50 years of age. Macular degeneration affects the macular, the central part of the retina. The retina is in the back of the eyes and control central vision. People with macular degeneration are not completely blind, their peripheral vision (side) is fine. It may develop in one or both eyes with different levels of severity.
