Nigerians, why do we often blame the victim instead of focusing on the alleged offender?
According to reports, a young woman was allegedly lured to a hotel with the promise of being taught content creation. It has also been reported that she was sexually assaulted and later died by su***de.
Instead of asking why someone would allegedly deceive, exploit, or assault another person, many people are asking why the young woman agreed to visit a hotel.
If someone is deceived with false promises, does that justify violence against them?
We should condemn anyone found responsible for crimes such as r**e or exploitation while also encouraging everyone to exercise caution when meeting people they don’t know well.
Accountability should begin with the person who allegedly committed the crime—not by automatically placing all the blame on the victim.

The husband had every right to care about his mother. However, asking his wife to put her own future on hold so she could become the primary caregiver for his mother—without her full agreement—is a significant request. That responsibility should not be assumed or imposed.
The wife’s response seems to mirror what the husband asked of her: “You stay back and take care of your mother while I travel.” Whether that was the best way to handle it is debatable, but it highlights how unfair the original expectation may have felt to her.
My takeaway is this:
Marriage is a partnership, not a command structure. A husband can lead, and a wife should also have a voice. Important decisions—especially those involving careers, relocation, or caring for parents—should be made through mutual agreement, not one person instructing the other.
The husband’s final question was, “Is it a bad thing as a man to instruct my own wife on what to do?”
My answer would be:
No, it’s not wrong for a husband to guide or make suggestions. But expecting obedience on a life-changing decision without genuine agreement is unlikely to build a healthy marriage. Respect should go both ways, and both spouses deserve an equal voice in decisions that affect their lives.

A bride reportedly called off her wedding after learning that only the groom’s family would be allowed to pick the money sprayed during the ceremony, while her own family was excluded.
If this report is accurate, it raises an important question about communication, respect, and cultural expectations in marriage.
Marriage is not just the union of two individuals—it is also the coming together of two families. Traditions differ from one community to another, but decisions that may affect either family should be discussed and agreed upon beforehand to avoid misunderstandings on such an important day.
What’s your opinion?
* Was the bride right to call off the wedding?
* Should such cultural or family rules be discussed before the wedding day?
* Who do you think was at fault in this situation

A young boy just finished secondary school.
Instead of learning a trade, acquiring a skill, or pursuing higher education, he chooses internet fraud (Yahoo) because he believes it’s the fastest way to make money.
For me, I’d rather be known as a hardworking electrician, welder, carpenter, mechanic, tailor, makeup artist, photographer, programmer, or any skilled professional than be known as a Yahoo boy.
Money made through honest work may come slowly, but it comes with dignity, peace of mind, and a good name.
What’s your opinion?
If you had a son or younger brother who just finished secondary school, would you encourage him to learn a skill or chase quick money?
Let’s have a respectful conversation.

Dear Governor,
What is delaying the official opening of the Ekwulobia Flyover?
Why is the road beside the flyover so narrow? Why are repairs and patching carried out almost every Eke Market day?
Your Excellency, you are our brother, and we want the very best for Aguata. We do not want our local government to be associated with substandard projects or infrastructure that fails to meet expected standards.
We respectfully appeal for a thorough review of this project and for any necessary corrections to ensure it truly serves the people and stands the test of time.
Aguata deserves durable, safe, and quality infrastructure.
