Mr Taofik Afolabi a Lagos based journalist has expressed his fellings on what happened in ibadan today between Taye currency and his fans members

According to him he said It wasn't even long after the coronation before Ibadan-born music star, Alhaji Taye Akande Adebisi — popularly known as Taye Currency — began receiving ba&cklash over his performance.

Many people expressed deep disapp0intment, particularly when he sang "Were la fi wo n were." The general sentiment was that Apesin delivered a performance far below expectations, and his choice of songs did not align with the grandeur and cultural significance of such a historic occasion.

In some quarters, there were strong arg&uments that Alhaji Saidi Osupa Akorede would have been a better choice to perform, given his consistent track record and deep understanding of Yoruba cultural music.

However, in my own opinion, Taye Currency actually started off well. He was dishing out traditional Ibadan-originated songs that resonated with the mood of the ceremony. Even His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Oladoja, the new Olubadan, seemed visibly pleased — smiling and waving his irukere (royal horsetail whisk) in approval.

Unfortu&nately, things took a dow&nturn. After that promising start, "Baba Honourable" began to fumble. The song selections that followed felt off — p0orly suited for the dignified and culturally rich atmosphere of the coronation.

This, in my view, should serve as a big lesson for him: every event has its own tone, expectation, and audience — and the music must reflect that. Frankly speaking, Taye Currency dropped the ball. He needs to reflect, recalibrate and do better in future prestigious event.
