NORTH CENTRAL ADC PARTY NATIONAL MEDIA FRONTIERS.

INDEPENDENCE DAY REFLECTION ON HIS EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU’S 65TH ANNIVERSARY NATIONAL BROADCAST.

30 September, 2025.

Fellow Nigerians,

Today, October 1st, 2025, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, addressed the nation on the 65th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence. I listened carefully and read every line of his broadcast. Respectfully, while the President delivered his speech with eloquence and grammatical perfection, Nigerians expected solutions to hunger, insecurity, and unemployment, not another lecture.

“When a child is crying for food, you don’t sing lullabies; you give him bread.”

That is the tragedy of this Independence Day message—words in place of action, promises instead of policies.

1. On Founding Fathers and History

The President invoked the memories of our founding fathers—Azikiwe, Awolowo, Tafawa Balewa, Ahmadu Bello, Margaret Ekpo, and others. These were men and women who matched words with deeds. Awolowo’s free education transformed the West; Ahmadu Bello’s agricultural drive empowered the North; Zik expanded schools and nationalism; Balewa united Nigeria at independence.

Today, our leaders recite their names but neglect their legacies. It is like a farmer who boasts of his father’s fertile land yet leaves his own field barren. Nigerians ask: where are the legacies of today’s leaders?

2. On 65 Years of Progress

The President spoke of progress in education, health, and infrastructure since 1960. But Nigerians know the bitter truth: fees are unaffordable, hospitals are empty of drugs, and schools lack teachers. What use is 23,000 secondary schools when many pupils sit on the floor? What use are 274 universities when graduates roam the streets jobless?

In the days of Shehu Shagari, housing estates sprang up across states. Under Obasanjo, GSM revolution brought communication to every home. Under Yar’Adua, power sector reforms and amnesty stabilised Niger Del

Smile is a mighty gift that not everybody can afford to give it to everybody.

But our heros gives their own for free, it's indeed a sign of good heart.
