'Why am I having belly cramps when It's not time for my period?' I asked myself this question as I closed my period app. According to my app,I was ovulating but I had woken to a onesided pain in my lower abdomen. After pondering on this for a while,I decided to surf the net and ask Google questions. At first I was surprised,but as I continued to read,I realized that In all my years as a growing woman,I had never heard of the term 'ovulation cramps'. Even though this cramps is very different from that of endometriosis (the cramps felt during your menstrual period),I was puzzled that ovulation had cramps attached with its own other unique features (tenderness in breasts,back pain, etc). Here are my findings;
Known as 'mittelschmerz-- German for 'middle' and 'pain', ovulation cramps mostly occurs when an o***y releases an egg in the middle of your menstrual cycle and the fallopian tube contracts to help it reach awaiting s***m for fertilization. Also, blood and fluid that surround the egg as it ruptures from the o***y flow into the abdominal cavity and cause irritation thus, cramps. The sensation ranges from a dull ache to sharp twinges and usually lasts from minutes to hours. It is generally felt on one side of the abdomen or pelvis depending on which o***y releases what egg that month. Sometimes, it may be accompanied by spotting or discharge and nausea if pain is severe.
With this understanding on what was going on in my body,I looked up on some Ways to handle ovulation cramps and a few popped up.
¶Try stretches that target the lower back
¶Re-evaluate your posture whenever you sit
¶make sure you're getting plenty rest.
¶Apply a heating pad to the affected area
¶Take a warm bath.
¶Eat green fruits and vegetables
Not every woman will feel ovulation when it occurs but it can be very painful for others.
However,if the pain becomes too severe or lasts more than one day, please see a doctor.

¶The “fertile window”
The 6 days leading up to and including ovulation makes up what’s called the “fertile window.” This is the period of time when s*xual in*******se may lead to pregnancy.
The s***m may wait around for several days in the fallopian tubes after s*x, ready to fertilize the egg when it is finally released. Once the egg is in the fallopian tubes, it lives for around 24 hours before it can no longer be fertilized, thus ending the fertile window.

Ovulation is a term for when a mature egg is released from the o***y. It’s part of the menstrual cycle and plays a major role in pregnancy.
When the egg is released, it may or may not be fertilized by s***m. If fertilized, the egg may travel to the uterus and implant to develop into a pregnancy. If left unfertilized, the egg disintegrates and the uterine lining is shed during your period.
Ovulation typically happens around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle, counting from the first day of your period. But normal cycles can be as short as 21 days in adults, or as long as 35 days. You’ll want to track your cycle over multiple months to learn its length. You’re likely to ovulate around the middle date of your cycle, give or take a few days.
Understanding how ovulation happens and when it takes place can help you achieve or prevent pregnancy. It can also help you diagnose certain medical conditions.

Myths and Facts About Endometriosis.
¢Myth: Endometriosis is just a really heavy period.
During your monthly cycle, hormones cause the lining of your uterus to thicken to get ready for a possible pregnancy. If you don’t get pregnant, you get your period. The tissue breaks down and exits through your va**na.
Endometriosis happens when those hormones trigger thickening and bleeding in the tissue growing outside your uterus, like on your ovaries or in the tubes that deliver your eggs (the fallopian tubes). This often makes you bleed more during your period, but not always.
¢Myth: You can’t get it when you’re young.
If you’ve started your period, you can get endometriosis. It’s more likely once you get into your 30s and 40s, but your chances also go up if Other family members have had it or You start your period at a young age.
¢Myth: Your symptoms signal how serious it is.
Not always. You could have advanced endometriosis with no obvious symptoms, or a mild case that causes intense pain and other issues. Pain probably comes from the scarring and irritation caused by bleeding, or from endometrial tissue growing on a nerve
¢Myth: Endometriosis means you can’t get pregnant.
Not necessarily. Most women with the condition are able to have children. But the more serious the disease, the more likely you are to have problems. Your doctor may be able to help with certain treatments if you have trouble getting pregnant because of endometriosis.

∆ Lifestyle Changes for Endometriosis
°Warm baths, hot water bottles, and heating pads can give quick relief from endometriosis pain. Over time, lifestyle changes like these might also help:
Right Diet; Add more fresh fruits and vegetables by making them the heart of your meals. Research has also found foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, like salmon and walnuts, to be helpful. Also, try to avoid alcohol and caffeine.
°Exercises;Working out encourages your heart to pump blood to all your organs, improve circulation, and help nutrients and oxygen flow to all your systems. Women who exercise may have less estrogen and have lighter periods, which can help improve their symptoms of endometriosis over time. Exercise helps reduce stress. And because it releases brain chemicals called endorphins, it can actually relieve pain.
Finding ways to manage stress -- whether it’s through yoga or meditation, or by simply carving out time for self-care -- can help you ease symptoms.

Types of Endometriosis
There are three main types of endometriosis, based on where it is:
~Superficial peritoneal lesion. This is the most common kind. You have lesions on your peritoneum, a thin film that lines your pelvic cavity.
~Endometrioma (ovarian lesion). These dark, fluid-filled cysts, also called chocolate cysts, form deep in your ovaries. They don’t respond well to treatment and can damage healthy tissue.
~Deeply infiltrating endometriosis. This type grows under your peritoneum and can involve organs near your uterus, such as your bowels or bladder. About 1% to 5% of women with endometriosis have it.
Symptoms
You might not notice any symptoms. When you have them, they can include:
°Very long or heavy periods
°Severe cramps
°Severe migraines or lower back pain during your period
°Pain when you p**p or p*e
°Allergies that get worse around your period
°Vaginal bleeding between periods
°Blood in your urine or from your re**um
°Fatigue
°Nausea
°Diarrhea or constipation
°Bloating
If you’ve been diagnosed with endometriosis, you might want to ask things like:
^What can I do to control my endometriosis symptoms?
^Do I need medication? ^How does it work?
^What are the side effects of medication for endometriosis?
°If I'm having trouble getting pregnant, could fertility treatments help? What about surgery?
°Can surgery stop my symptoms?
°What might happen if I do nothing?
°How often do I need to see a doctor?
Write down all the medicines prescribed for endometriosis and other conditions. Include any over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and supplements.

What Is PMDD?
Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a health problem similar to premenstrual syndrome (PMS), but it’s more serious.
Chances are good that you’ve had some type of PMS since you started your period. Doctors think as many as three-quarters of women who get periods have some signs of PMS, whether it’s food cravings, cramps, tender breasts, moodiness, or fatigue.
But PMDD is different. It causes emotional and physical symptoms like PMS, but women with PMDD find their symptoms draining. PMDD symptoms could interfere with your daily life, including work, school, social life, and relationships.
The symptoms of PMDD usually show up the week before you start your period and last until a few days after it begins. Most of the time they’re severe and exhausting, and they can keep you from daily activities.
Symptoms of PMDD include:
∆Mood swings
∆Depression or feelings of hopelessness
∆Intense anger and conflict with other people
∆Tension, anxiety, and irritability
∆No interest in your usual activities
∆Trouble concentrating
∆Fatigue
∆Appetite changes
∆Feeling out of control
∆Sleep problems
∆Cramps and bloating
∆Breast tenderness
∆Headaches
∆Joint or muscle pain
∆Hot flashes
Many of the same things you do to manage PMS can ease your PMDD symptoms.
Common treatments include:
∆Antidepressants
∆Hormone therapy (like birth control pills)
∆Changes in what you eat
∆Regular exercise
∆Stress management
∆Vitamin supplements
∆Anti-inflammatory medicines
For some women, 1,200 milligrams a day of dietary and supplemental calcium may help with symptoms. Vitamin B6, magnesium and L-tryptophan also may work, but ask your doctor for advice before taking any supplements.
Talking to a therapist may also help you find new ways to manage PMDD. Relaxation therapy, meditation, reflexology, and yoga might also provide you relief.

PMS -Pre menstrual Syndrome.
You probably get some signs that your period is coming. For most women, it’s no big deal -- maybe tender breasts or a taste for sweets. But for others, the days before their period are harder. If it messes with your daily life, you might have premenstrual syndrome (PMS).
PMS is a group of changes that can affect you on many levels. They can be physical, emotional, or behavioral. The changes come 1 to 2 weeks before your period. Once your period starts or soon after it starts, they'll go away.
Most women have at least one sign of PMS each month. But it’s not the same for everyone. It can change as you get older. PMS shows up in many different ways. *Everything in the list (3rd slide) could be a sign of PMS. But most women get just a few of these, not all of them.
Even though PMS is common, doctors don’t know exactly what causes it. It probably has to do with changes in your body chemistry around the time of your period.
Some conditions affect PMS, but don’t cause it. PMS can be brought on, or can get worse if you:
~Smoke
~Under lots of stress
~Don’t exercise
~Don’t sleep enough
~Drink too much alcohol or eat too much salt, red meat, or sugar
~Are depressed
Women with other health problems may find that those problems get worse before their period. Some of those are migraine headaches, asthma, and allergies.
