HEALTH IS WEALTH

I'm sure we are all familiar with the saying,
*"Health is wealth"*. What does it actually mean?
It is a popular saying that emphasizes the value of good health. It implies that being healthy is as valuable, if not more so, than having material wealth because without good health, it's difficult to enjoy life or pursue one's goals effectively.

This shows how essential good health is for a fulfilling and productive life. No matter how much money or success one accumulates, it can’t replace the benefits of good health. Without it, even the wealthiest individuals might struggle to enjoy life fully or achieve their aspirations.

Taking care of your health involves more than just avoiding illness. It means maintaining a balanced diet, staying physically active, getting regular check-ups, managing stress, and getting enough rest. Prioritizing these aspects helps prevent chronic conditions, boosts mental well-being, and enhances overall quality of life. By investing in your health today, you're securing a better, more vibrant future.

To your total well-being,

BEYOND THIRST: UNLOCKING THE POWER AND POTENTIAL OF WATER 🌊

Good morning, health enthusiasts!

👉🏻Drinking water has numerous benefits. To function properly, all the cells and organs of the body need water.

Here are some reasons our body needs water:

1. *WATER LUBRICATES THE JOINTS*: Cartilage, found in joints and the disks of the spine, contains around 80 percent water. Long-term dehydration can reduce the joints’ shock-absorbing ability, leading to joint pain.

2. *WATER DELIVERS OXYGEN THROUGHOUT THE BODY:* Blood is more than 90 percent water, and blood carries oxygen to different parts of the body.

3. *WATER BOOSTS SKIN HEALTH AND BEAUTY*: Not drinking enough water, the skin can become more vulnerable to skin disorders and premature wrinkling.

4. *THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM DEPENDS ON WATER*: The bowel needs water to work properly. Dehydration can lead to digestive problems, constipation, and an overly acidic stomach. This increases the risk of heartburn and stomach ulcers.

5. *WATER HELPS MAINTAIN BLOOD PRESSURE:* A lack of water can cause blood to become thicker, increasing blood pressure.

6. *WATER PREVENTS KIDNEY DAMAGE*: The kidneys regulate fluid in the body. Insufficient water can lead to kidney stones and other problems.

7. *WATER CUSHIONS THE BRAIN, SPINAL CORD, AND OTHER SENSITIVE TISSUES* : Not taking enough water can affect brain structure and function. It is also involved in the production of hormones and neurotransmitters. Prolonged dehydration can lead to problems with thinking and reasoning.

🚨 SALTY TRUTHS UNVEILED! DIVE INTO THE 5 DANGERS OF TOO MUCH SALT 🚨

Hey Friends! 👋

Ever wonder why they say “everything in moderation”? Well, let’s spill the beans on salt – that tiny superhero-turned-villain in our diets! 🧂

🚫 5 Dangers of Excessive Salt Intake 🚫

High Blood Pressure Hazard: Consuming too much salt can elevate blood pressure, paving the way for heart disease and strokes. Keep your ticker healthy by moderating your salt intake.

Kidney Conundrum: Excess salt can strain your kidneys, potentially leading to kidney problems over time. Protect these vital organs by being mindful of your sodium intake.

Water Retention Woes: Salt has a knack for retaining water in your body, causing bloating and swelling. Dialing back on salt can help you maintain a balanced fluid level.

Hypertension Headache: Those with hypertension need to be especially cautious, as excess salt can exacerbate this condition. Opt for a low-sodium diet to manage and control blood pressure effectively.

Contributor to Chronic Conditions: Long-term, high salt consumption is linked to various chronic health issues. By cutting down on salt, you take a proactive step towards preventing these ailments.

You may then ask, "How do I know if I'm consuming too much salt?"
Well, although this may vary from person to person, the recommended daily intake of salt for an average adult is about 5 grams, which is roughly equivalent to one teaspoon.

Remember, small changes in your salt intake can lead to significant improvements in your overall health! 🌱

WAIT! BEFORE YOU PUT THAT FOOD IN THE MICROWAVE, MAKE SURE YOU READ THIS!

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), microwaving food is generally safe. However, microwaving in plastic containers is associated with increased leaching — the transfer or leaking of chemicals into food. Note that even if a plastic container is labeled “microwave safe,” that simply means it won't melt.

Most of us have heard that plastic and microwaves are a bad match. But despite that knowledge, we sometimes fall into the trap of heating up our lunch packed Tupperware containers for the sake of time and convenience.

WHAT’S THE PROBLEM WITH PLASTIC, ANYWAY?
The two key culprits to dangerous plastics are the man-made chemicals Phthalates and Bisphenol A (BPA), which are often added to plastic to help it keep its shape and pliability. Phthalates and Bisphenol A (BPA) are found in various types of food packaging such as water bottles, food cans and bottle tops;beauty products and other environmental exposure. In high volume, these substances have been linked to several negative health outcomes including hormone disruptions, respiratory issues and cardiovascular diseases. Pregnant people and children may be at greater risk of harmful effects.

Exposing plastics to heat (like microwaving) can increase the risk of transferring these substances to your foods. Washing plastic containers in the heat of the dishwasher can also prompt them to leach chemicals and should also be avoided. "If you must wash plastics marked “dishwasher safe,” place them in the top rack, far from the heating element", Consumer Reports advises.

Use alternatives - glass, porcelain or stainless steel containers for hot foods and liquids instead of plastic containers.

“TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR HEALTH: A GUIDE TO CHECKING YOUR THYROID AND ENSURING OPTIMAL WELL-BEING!”

Good morning, good people! 🤗

Do you know what your thyroid gland is, where it is and what it does in the body? Read till the end and learn how to make sure you have a healthy thyroid.

Your thyroid is a small, butterfly-shaped gland in the front of your neck. It makes hormones that control the way the body uses energy. These hormones affect nearly every organ in your body and control many of your body’s most important functions. For example, they affect your breathing, heart rate, weight, digestion, and moods.

Thyroid diseases cause your thyroid to make either too much or too little of the hormones. Some of the different thyroid diseases include:

* Goiter, an enlargement of the thyroid gland
* Hyperthyroidism, which happens when your thyroid gland makes more thyroid hormones than your body needs
* Hypothyroidism, which happens when your thyroid gland does not make enough thyroid hormones
* Thyroid cancer
* Thyroid nodules, lumps in the thyroid gland
* Thyroiditis, swelling of the thyroid

HOW TO CHECK YOUR THYROID
Research has shown that millions of people have thyroid problems without knowing it. You can perform a simple neck check self-exam to help with early detection and check for lumps or enlargements in the neck that may point to a thyroid condition. Here is a step-by-step guide.

All you will need is:

Handheld mirror
Glass of water

HOW TO TAKE THE THYROID NECK CHECK
Hold the mirror in your hand, focusing on the lower front area of your neck, above the collarbones, and below the voice box (larynx). Your thyroid gland is located in this area of your neck. (Check the attached pictures)
While focusing on this area in the mirror, tip your head back.
Take a drink of water and swallow.
As you swallow, look at your neck. Check for any bulges or protrusions in this area when you swallow.

Reminder: Don’t confuse the Adam’s apple with the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland is located further down on your neck, closer to the collarbone. You may want to repeat this process several times.

If you do see any bulges or protrusions in this area, see your physician. You may have an enlarged thyroid gland or a thyroid nodule and should be checked to determine whether cancer is present or if treatment for thyroid disease is needed.
