*How to Accomplish great things with little effort*

Once upon a time, deep in the middle of the animal jungle, an argument ensued between an ant and a spider. The spider felt pretty convinced that the ant was too weak to make it past her web if well spurn, the ant was persuaded that the spiders web can never be too strong to withstand his push. The argument was happening too frequently and got quite heated. It finally got within the earshot of the rodents, crickets, grasshoppers and other life forms in that side of the Jungle. They decided to intervene, they suggested that rather than argue endlessly, why not put this debate to a test.

The test was simple, the spider should weave its web on the narrow pathway after the bridge on the way to the river, and they would all wait at the river for 3 hours to see if the ant will make it through the spider’s web. The winner of this contest would get promoted to a higher order and have access to special perks in the jungle for 3 years. The spider felt this was a good challenge, the ant also agreed, and the date for the conquest was set.

The spider began to spin her web, not only was it fortified, it was beautiful to behold. The spider got the grasshopper and a few squirrels to try getting through the web, and they couldn’t. It was really strong. The ant on the other hand continued with life as usual to the amusement of other members of the kingdom. They had expected that the ant would at least start some exercising, as the attempt to break through the spider’s web would require strength.

On the day of the challenge, the spider added a few extra layers to its already spurn web, determined to make today the day of shame for the ant. All the animals gathered at the river, set their timer and patiently waited for any news about the ant’s crossing. On the nick of time, the spider was at location, ready for the challenge, but the ant was nowhere to be found.

All the animals cooperated and waited; the ant did not show up. They decided to wait, and at least fulfil the time requirements. They set their timer, and were convinced that once it was 3hrs, the deal was off. The ant was not permitted to every argue with the spider again and would accord the spider the respect due. When it was about 20 mins to the end of time, they suddenly heard a rumble in the jungle.

Heading towards the well spurn spider web on the route to the river was the mighty elephant. The spider climbed on top of his spurn web, beaconing loudly to the elephant to change cause, but the elephant kept going right on, and with one swipe of his trunk took out all the carefully laid web, the elephant headed for the river, where the other creatures were waiting. The ant alighted from the back of the elephant and shouted, we did it!

The lessons are deeper than I can share with you, I believe you can find a few things to share with me too. Here are a few thoughts from me to you.

1. If you go about everything you are doing alone, you are really small. You will know how small you are soon enough.
2. Always thinking beyond yourself. Human highest productivity is always dependent on collaboration.
3. There is something called leverage, it requires finding a group of people who all do a little, and together everyone can achieve much more.
4. Nobody said you should come and kill yourself… know your strengths and know where you need help.
5. If you don’t know how to work well with others and achieve results outside yourself, you need to grow. It’s the secret between growing in a technical line and becoming a manager.
6. Ask for help. Never be too shy to ask for help. Everybody needs help. Even the Elephant has a need.
