COMMON EYE RELATED DISEASES.
Here are some common eye diseases and conditions:

# # # **Refractive Errors**
- **Myopia (Nearsightedness)**: Difficulty seeing distant objects clearly.
- **Hyperopia (Farsightedness)**: Difficulty seeing close objects clearly.
- **Astigmatism**: Blurred vision due to irregularly shaped cornea or lens.
- **Presbyopia**: Age-related difficulty in focusing on close objects, usually after age 40.

# # # **Cataracts**
- Clouding of the eye's natural lens, leading to blurred vision, glare, and reduced color perception. Common in older adults.

# # # **Glaucoma**
- A group of diseases that damage the optic nerve, often due to increased intraocular pressure. Can lead to vision loss if untreated.

# # # **Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)**
- Deterioration of the macula (central part of the retina), causing loss of central vision. More common in older adults.

# # # **Diabetic Retinopathy**
- Damage to the blood vessels in the retina due to diabetes, potentially leading to vision loss.

# # # **Dry Eye Syndrome**
- Insufficient tear production or poor tear quality, causing discomfort, redness, and blurred vision.

# # # **Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)**
- Inflammation of the conjunctiva (the thin, transparent layer covering the white part of the eye). Can be caused by infections, allergies, or irritants.

# # # **Retinal Detachment**
- Separation of the retina from the underlying tissue, often requiring emergency treatment to prevent permanent vision loss.

# # # **Strabismus (Crossed Eyes)**
- Misalignment of the eyes, which can lead to double vision or amblyopia if untreated.

# # # **Amblyopia (Lazy Eye)**
- Reduced vision in one eye due to abnormal visual development in childhood.

# # # **Uveitis**
- Inflammation of the uvea (middle layer of the eye), which can cause pain, redness, and vision problems.

# # # **Corneal Diseases**
- **Keratitis**: Inflammation or infection of the cornea.
- **Corneal Dystrophies**: Genetic conditions causing cloudy vision.

# # # **Stye (Hordeolum)**
- A painful, red bump on the eyelid caused by a bacterial infection of an oil gland.

# # # **Blepharitis**
- Inflammation of the eyelids, often causing redness, itching, and crusting at the base of the eyelashes.

# # # **Ptosis**
- Drooping of the upper eyelid, which can obstruct vision.

# # # **Color Blindness**
- Difficulty distinguishing certain colors, most commonly red-green color blindness.

# # # **Night Blindness (Nyctalopia)**
- Difficulty seeing in low light, often due to vitamin A deficiency or retinal disorders.

# # # **Prevention and Care**
- Regular eye exams.
- Protecting eyes from UV light with sunglasses.
- Managing chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension.
- Maintaining a healthy diet rich in vitamins A, C, and E, and omega-3 fatty acids.

If you experience symptoms like sudden vision changes, eye pain, flashes of light, or persistent redness, seek medical attention promptly.

SCABIES:
Scabies is a contagious skin condition caused by a tiny mite called *Sarcoptes scabiei*. Here’s a quick overview:

# # # Key Features:
- **Itching**: Intense itching, often worse at night.
- **Rash**: Red bumps, blisters, or burrow lines (tiny raised tracks) on the skin.
- **Common Sites**: Folds of skin, between fingers, wrists, elbows, armpits, waist, buttocks, and ge****ls.

# # # Transmission:
- Close skin-to-skin contact (common in households, care facilities, or crowded places).
- Less commonly through shared clothing, bedding, or towels.

# # # Diagnosis & Treatment:
- **Diagnosis**: Usually based on symptoms and skin examination; sometimes confirmed by scraping the skin to find mites or eggs.
- **Treatment**: Prescription creams or lotions (like permethrin) applied to the whole body. Oral medication (ivermectin) may be used in severe cases.
- **Important**: All close contacts should be treated simultaneously, even if asymptomatic.

# # # Prevention:
- Avoid direct contact with infected individuals until treated.
- Wash clothing, bedding, and towels in hot water and dry on high heat.
