These are the red, angry bumps that appear when the pore wall breaks and inflammation sets in, often involving C. acnes bacteria.
• The Goal: To reduce inflammation, calm redness, and kill the bacteria causing the breakout.
• Best Ingredients: Benzoyl Peroxide is excellent for killing acne-causing bacteria. Azelaic Acid is a powerhouse for this type of acne because it is both anti-inflammatory and helps reduce the post-breakout redness. Niacinamide is also very helpful as it helps control oil production and calms the skin’s overall response to the inflammation.
