5 Simple Reasons why Matlock Bath is a Seaside Town! 🏖

If you haven’t been to Matlock Bath already then you are missing out, tucked away just outside the Peak District boundary, sat on the River Derwent and surrounded by cliffs Matlock Bath is definitely a gem.

Matlock Bath offers a Seaside Town vibe in a location that is probably furthest from the seaside that you can imagine. Now, I know people are thinking “How is it a seaside town if its not by the sea?”.

We set out to prove the reasons in our latest video.

1️⃣Every seaside town has these attractions, they have coin dozers, claws and lots of 2p’s. Yes, I am talking about amusement arcades and Matlock Bath has a handful of these across the Parade. The arcades offer all the sights and sounds of what you expect when visiting a Seaside town.

2️⃣If you went to the seaside and had a meal there is a good chance you had Fish and Chips. Matlock has Fish and Chip shops a plenty, all down the Parade you cannot walk 5 metres without seeing a Fish and Chip shop and the familiar smell fills the air. Don’t attempt to take your own food as you will only end up buying chips anyway as the delicious smell is too tempting.

3️⃣Aquariums and Sea Life Centres are at every popular Seaside resort including Great Yarmouth, Blackpool and Scarborough. Although Matlock Bath doesn’t have a Sea Life Centre….its does have an aquarium. The original baths have been converted to an aquarium, illusions museum, hall of mirrors and more. Definitely worth checking out the next time you visit Matlock Bath.

4️⃣Sand and Sea! Ok, hear me out. There is sand and its located within the play area and offers enough to have fun, build castles and get sand in every place possible. There isn’t sea and its not on the riviera but it is on a river. Yes, I’m clutching at straws here but we managed take a pedal boat out up the river and that for me is enough.

5️⃣Ice Cream, Rock, Nougat and more. If you remember walking into a seaside sweet shop you will have memories of shelves full of colourful sticks of rock, pink and white nougat, peanut brittle, jars of sweets and so much ice cream. Matlock offers you all this in abundance and the kids will definitely get you spending your money.

Its worth mentioning that Matlock Bath offers more than whats mentioned above, it is also home to Gullivers Kingdom, Heights of Abraham, Peak District Mining Museum and just a short drive from the main town of Matlock.
