can't believe Dee will be 3yrs in a few weeks

There’s a kind of motherhood no one really prepares you for… the special journey. Not because it’s less beautiful, but because it asks more of you than you ever imagined you had to give.

I didn’t plan this path. I didn’t read about it in books or dream about it as a little girl. But then Derrick came into my life… and everything changed. At first, it felt overwhelming. The diagnosis, the questions, the quiet fears you don’t always say out loud. The moments you watch other children and wonder… “Will my child get there too?”

The days you have to explain, advocate, fight, and still come home and be “strong.” But let me tell you something I’ve learned on this journey…There is strength in us that only this kind of love can unlock.

Loving Derrick has stretched me in ways I didn’t even know were possible. It has taught me patience when I had none left. It has taught me to celebrate the smallest wins like they are the biggest victories, because they truly are.

The first time he does something new, something others might overlook… my heart explodes with joy. Because I know the effort, the courage, the growth behind it. This journey is not easy. But it is deeply meaningful.

To every mother walking this same path, you are doing better than you think. On the days you feel tired… you’re still showing up.
On the days you feel unseen… heaven sees you. On the days you question yourself… your love is already enough.

Our children may take a different route, but they are not behind. They are not less. They are uniquely made, with a purpose that goes beyond what the world measures. And we? We are not just mothers. We are advocates.
We are warriors. We are safe places. We are love in its purest form.

Derrick may need more patience, more time, more understanding… but he has also given me more love, more depth, and more purpose than I ever knew I needed. So if you’re on this special journey too. don’t give up.
Cry if you need to. Rest when you can. But never forget… you were chosen for this child for a reason.
And you are exactly the mother your child needs.

Trust me when I said I have a strong will child. Derrick is one child that has never surrendered to anything. He has not surrendered to his diagnosis, he has not surrendered to the health defects associated with it. He has not surrendered to the way he feels per time

Once he is ready to do anything, nothing stops him no matter what until he achieve that which he is ready for, this secret I have discovered for myself as his mother

I can tell you with my full chest that Derrick is stronger and extremely positive than me. This child in this picture has thrive effortlessly

His strength is my motivation. I have a strong will child who doesn't want to appear pitied. I have a strong will child who will do what he needs to do anytime he is ready to do it.

Many phases in the life of Dee is what most adult will not survive but you won't know this child has other health complications until I tell you because he is always active, playful, smiling and bringing smile to other people faces

Atimes I wonder where this child get his own strength from. Atimes I wonder if the God that created him is different because Dee goes through a lot as a baby and yet act as if all is very well with him.... No dull moment with Dee

It can only be God, I have learned a lot from this child in 2yrs + and still learning. He has made our journey easy, Derrick is teachable and he pays attention. When he does something wrong you talk to him he will cover his face. The day Dee saw me cry he covered his face and didn't want to look at me twice 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It has indeed been a journey
A journey with lots of emotions and lessons But in all God never left us
