The rain had finally stopped, leaving behind the heavy, damp scent of red earth and wet grass. It was that quiet, in-between hour of the evening when the rest of the neighborhood started winding down, retreating indoors to escape the humid night air.
As captured in image.png, a single, brilliant security light cut through the misty darkness, casting a sharp, white glow across the unpaved road. For anyone walking home late, that light was a beacon. It illuminated the rugged, uneven path, washed out by recent downpours, showing exactly where to step to avoid the deep mud and puddles.
Behind the tall perimeter wall, the faint hum of a generator or a distant television could be heard, a stark contrast to the stillness of the street itself. Down the slope, the lights of the town twinkled faintly in the distance, but up here, on this quiet stretch, it was just the glowing lamp keeping watch over the night, guiding the neighborhood's late travelers safely back to their gates.
