BLEACH, DYE AND OTHER CHEMICALS

I had a consultation with a client last month.

She is on low-cut but her hair is falling out at the centre of her hair.

Of course, she got frightened.

She shared her fears and dilemma with her friend who gave her my contact.

As usual, we started with series of questions.

Truth, there is no 'I just woke up and saw my hair is gone'.

Fact is, the signals have been there but you ignored it.

When I had issues with my hairline, I suddenly saw the patches, but I recalled that before the day it became obvious to my eyes, I could feel tenderness around those paths.

Back to the story of my client.......

I asked her the length of her hair, she said she doesn't keep her hair long.

I requested for pics of the hair. She forwarded them to me.

She's blonde. In other words, she dyes her hair.

I asked her what was the interval between her last relaxer and the dye - she said she dyed the hair right after retouching.

We spoke extensively for up to an hour.

At the end of the day, we could trace possible causes.

One is that she has overstressed the hair in a short while.

Another is that she's likely allergic to an ingredient in the chemicals in the dye - that was her first time using that brand.

In addition to booking an appointment with a dermatologist, I made few suggestions for her.

Healthy hair is not gotten with a snap of the finger.

You have to be mindful of what goes into your hair. Spend few seconds to read the ingredients list of your products. Research on them, if the terms used aren't understandable to you. Make google your friend.

Use natural-based products that won't clog up your pores.

Reduce your stress level and eat more healthy foods, incorporating fruits and veggies.

Also, increase your water intake.

As long your follicles are not damaged yet, there's hope of reviving your hair.
