The BEAUTY of Olive Oil - PART 1

Using olive oil for skin is an ancient beauty secret, discovered thousands of years ago. Once called "liquid gold" by Homer, olive oil was a commonly used skin care product by Phoenicians, Egyptians, Romans, and Greeks. Olive oil has vitamin E and oleic acid, which are both beneficial to the skin. Olive oil's oleic acid helps to soften the skin, and the vitamin E improves the elasticity of the skin.

For the Face

When it comes to caring for your face, using olive oil for skin remedies and homemade cleansers is a natural way to get healthy skin. Olive oil can be mixed with sugar to make a facial scrub, or with water for a homemade night cream. Olive oil can be used to remove eye makeup, to alleviate dry skin patches, and on the lips to heal or prevent chapping. Facial masks may be made by mixing olive oil, an egg, and flour together. This type of mask soothes sunburned and dry skin.

Hello Beautiful people ,

As the sun is at ts peak , here are a few tips you see you through

Apply Sunscreen
The #1 cause of wrinkles is sun damage, so it's important to use a sunscreen of at least 30 SPF from your early years on even in winter and on cloudy days. A great trick is to purchase two moisturizers: One for night and one for day that includes UV protection. Don't use moisturizers with sunscreen at night, the ingredients are not meant to be used 24/7 and can aggravate skin.

When To Let Go Of Your Cosmetics

Many people often wonder if they should toss or keep their cosmetics after a certain period of time, and the answer is yes. We know most people are tempted to hold on to these cosmetics even after they see the expiry dates, we at Body Beautiful Spa are advising that you toss them after a while. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Here are a few cosmetics and their life span:

· Cleansers/Moisturizers (cream/gel/liquid): 6 months to a year
· Liquid/Cream foundations: 6 months to a year
· Concealer: 1 year
· Powders: up to 2 years
· Eyeshadow/Blush: 3 years, unless in cream formulation, which shortens product life to 1 year
· Pencils: 3 years (sharpen with each use to prevent bacteria buildup)
· Mascara: 3 months
· Lipstick: 2 years
· Lipgloss: 1 year

The Reality Behind Stretch Marks

Have you ever had that moment where you’re standing in the mirror trying on a bathing suit or new dress with a plunging neck line and then notice—ah! Over there! A stretch mark—or a field of stretch marks. It’s one of those natural aspects of life that make us want to shrink back into a hoodie and jeans to hide them. Well, have no fear. Stretch marks are a part of life and a part of being a woman. According to eMedicine.com, 90 percent of women acquire stretch marks during pregnancy, while 70 percent of women develop them during puberty.

Stretch marks develop when skin grows at an abnormally fast rate, hence why adolescence or periods of weight gain are notorious for allowing these lines to shine. Skin is naturally elastic, but when it stretches to quickly, the skin is unable to react quickly enough and the middle layer of the skin, called the dermis, rips. These tears basically turn into those lovely lines that we all know as stretch marks. Stretch marks are most often found on the breasts, stomach, hips, or buttocks.

Although unsightly, they must be embraced because stretch marks are bodily scars that do not go away–they simply fade slowly with time. They are also in many ways a symbol of birthing and life through their association with pregnancies. Surgery is the only way to have them removed however there are some safer options that help to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Although many over-the-counter creams claim to make stretch marks disappear, there are some that lessen their appearance. Sunless tanning products and body makeup can also be used sparingly to cover them up for one-time events or photo shoots. However, the best bet is good old fashioned diet and exercise to maintain weight; this is your best preventative measure from gaining unnecessary stretch marks.

How To Get Rid of Dark Underarm Spots

Many women struggle with dark underarm spots, which can prove to be embarrassing and unsightly especially when wearing sleeveless tops. Dark underarm spots are a signal that shaving is irritating the skin. In order to combat it, it’s important to modify your hair removal routine and take great care of your shaving utensils. If you use a razor to shave under your arms, here are some tips that can decrease the chance you’ll develop dark underarm spots:

Start by using a gentle exfoliating body wash or towelette to remove impurities that cause irritation, ingrown hairs, and red bumps.

Rinse thoroughly, shave normally, and pat underarms dry with a towel.

Apply deodorant with a moisturizing system that soothes shaving irritation.

Don’t keep your razors in the shower. Items left in the shower can become breeding grounds for bacteria — which can lead to shaving irritation and infection.

3 Causes of Breakouts, And How to Fight it

Here are 3 tips we have about acne prevention/care:

1. Don’t use too many products
We advise that a person should use no more than 3 or 4 products. You need a cleanser, toner, moisturizer and a mask cream.

2. Watch what you eat
Eating a lot of dairy, wheat or sugar can contribute to changes in skin.

3. Keep your hair out of your face
Sometimes your hair can be the cause of a random acne breakout because of the product and oil it contains. Try to keep it out of your face if possible.
