🐣It's World Veterinary Day(wvd) 2025 and another great opportunity to celebrate ourselves as essential healthworkers dedicated to safeguarding animal health and welfare. 

🐶🐱WVD is celebrated annually on the last Saturday of April.This year's theme "Animal Health Takes a Team" highlights the multidisciplinary nature of the animal health team, which comprises veterinarians, veterinary nurses, technicians, researchers, technologists, and allied professionals. 

👨🏾‍⚕️It also recognizes and appreciates the partnership, collaboration, and importance of these professionals towards quality service delivery. 

🐴The theme further emphasizes the critical role of veterinarians in One Health as the connector linking animals to humans, and the environment.

 🧑🏽‍⚕️Through sustained collaborations and stakeholder engagements, veterinary professionals continue to tackle public health challenges around the 🌎. 

🐰Indeed we proudly serve a noble profession!!!

🎯 Dr. Moses Arokoyo, President of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association(NVMA), on behalf of the NEC, heartily congratulates Dr. David-Victor Joel Charima on his recent appointment as the Senior Special Assistant(SSA) to the Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas.

🤩Before this appointment, Dr Charima was the Confidential /Special Aide to the Deputy Governor in the previous government. He is currently a member of the Taraba State Agriculture and Food Sustainability Committee.

🥳 This is a well deserved appointment and we pray that God endows you with the strength, wisdom, and understanding to excel in your new office by driving impactful policy-facing improvements in animal health and livestock development.

😇😇😇 PAINFUL EXIT!!!

💔With a heavy heart but total submission to the will of God, The President of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), Dr Moses Arokoyo, regrets to announce, the death of a distinguished Veterinarian, dedicated member of NVMA Oyo State, doyen of Veterinary jurisprudence in Nigeria , Prof. Gabriel A. T Ogundipe.

😇The sad incident occurred today Monday, January 20, 2025.

😇Until his death, he was a past (Dean of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ibadan, President of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria, Head of Department of Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine, and a VTH Director).

😇We pray for the repose of his soul. May God comfort and strengthen his family, NVMA Oyo State Chapter, the entire Veterinary Community with the fortitude to bear the loss.

✍🏾This day, last week, the 2nd Annual Veterinary Diagnostic Conference organized by Critters in collaboration with The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association(NVMA) and hosted by Lagos State chapter took place at The Lekki Coliseum, Lekki Phase 1, Lekki, Lagos on June 20th and 21st, 2024.

✍🏾The President of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, *Dr Moses Arokoyo*, while giving his remarks, emphasized the benefits of modern diagnostic techniques in securing the welfare of animal patients while boosting the confidence of pet owners in Veterinarians and Veterinary healthcare services.

✍🏾The highly educative and impactful 2-day event with the theme *"Modern Diagnostic Techniques in Small Animal Medicine*" had Veterinarians and stakeholders in small animal practice from all over the country and beyond, in attendance.

✍🏾All guest speakers/experts did justice to their topics some of whom include,
the CEO Critters Veterinary Centre, *Dr Oksana Anom*, Associate Professor of Microbiology at the Department of Microbiology, University of Ibadan, *Dr Ogunleye Oladele*,
SSA Regional Technical Manager (diagnostics) at Zoetis, *Dr Francis Kalule*,
Veterinary Surgeon at University of Nairobi, Kenya, *Dr Lilyan Mathal*,
MSD Technical expert, *Dr Mats Abatzidis*, Consultant Radiologist at the Department of Surgery and Radiology, University of Ibadan, *Dr Adenike Olatunji-Akioye*,
Director, Sales and Strategy, Chromogene Int'l Ltd, *Dr Adebayo Adetayo*,
Veterinary Pathologist, University of Ibadan, *Dr Ohore Godspower*, Veterinary Surgeon, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, (FUNAAB), *Dr Oyenekan Iskil*,
Critters Lead Veterinarian, *Dr Emmanuel Ogundipe* and colleagues.
The National Publicity Secretary, *Dr Simiat Adeogun* and Chairman, NVMA Lagos State chapter, *Dr Mark Ofua* were also available to close the event on days 1&2 respectively.

✍🏾The NVMA remains committed to promoting and supporting highly impactful capacity-building programs like this which would improve the knowledge, skill set, and overall image of veterinarians and ultimately the profession.
