There are so many things I wish I knew earlier in my makeup & gele journey… not because I regret the process, but because the lessons didn’t come cheap.

At the beginning, I thought perfection was everything. I rushed techniques, chased trends, and compared my work to people who had years ahead of me. What I didn’t understand then is that mastery is built quietly—through repetition, patience, and a lot of “this didn’t come out right” moments.

I made mistakes.
Plenty of them.
Wrong foundation shades. Overdrawn brows. Gele that refused to sit properly no matter how hard I tried. And clients that tested my confidence. But every single mistake sharpened my eye and strengthened my hands.

One big realization?
Good work is not just about talent—it’s about discipline. Cleaning your tools. Understanding face shapes. Respecting your client’s features instead of forcing a style. Taking your time even when you feel pressured.

Another lesson: your growth will feel slow… until one day it doesn’t.
There will be days you question your progress, your pricing, your relevance. Keep going anyway. Consistency will introduce you to a version of yourself you didn’t even know you were becoming.

And to beginners, here’s what I’ll tell you honestly:

• Don’t skip the basics trying to look advanced. Foundations matter.
• Practice more than you post. Social media is not your training ground—real work is.
• Invest in learning, not just products. Skill will always outperform hype.
• Be patient with yourself. Your hands will catch up to your vision.
• And most importantly, stay original. Your uniqueness is your real advantage.

This journey will humble you before it elevates you.

But if you stay consistent, stay teachable, and stay true to your craft—you will grow into something undeniable.

I’m still learning. Still evolving.
And that’s the beauty of it.
