First step into regulating our nervous system:
Acknowledging that we are ready for change
It is this simple. This is how I started and how every single one of my clients started. We were all ready to change how we felt.
This is where as a Somatic Practictionner I would recommend to start by trusting your intuition. It is a journey, a process. For me, it started with this crucial decision that I desired to change in my life. What I could do at the time was simply meditate (what looked like closing my eyes for a few minutes every morning) and trying to go to 1 or 2 yoga classes a week. These small steps for ourselves, that might feel selfish at the beginning, are crucial, they are the one that will lead you towards the big transformational milestones.
Now, knowing what I know now, I would focus on learning how to breathe. Starting with 5 minutes a day of a specific breathing technique. My personal favorite is 7 second inhale, 7 second exhales, but many of my clients love 4-7-8. Just go on your appstore and find an app that will guide you effortlessly.
Things will come up, things that are uncomfortable, when we start regulating our nervous system, the backlog of unprocessed emotions, feelings and sensation (yes they can all come at once) will resurface. It is only by going through them that they will go away.

Breathwork has been a huge part of my healing journey, helping me through some of the most challenging moments—especially when I was battling depression and trying to reconnect with myself. Breath therapy became much more than just deep breathing; it gave me the tools to transform my mental health and find balance when life felt overwhelming.
