Do chemical peels hurt ?

While superficial peels don’t tend to hurt with a medium depth peel that is considered a medical grade chemical peel, you will experience a degree of tightness, tingling, or a change in the temperature. Medium depth peels of 20-35 % can be uncomfortable but are tolerable. During your consultation, you will be asked a series of questions to determine your suitability for a chemical peel. While you may feel discomfort during the application of the chemical peel, this only last for a couple of minutes and then the skin settles and the results can be impressive!!

To avoid discomfort or irritation on your newly resurfaced skin, stay clear of exfoliating for at least 48hours and also stop any retinoids for 7-10 days to let your skin heal after your chemical peel, skip the workout at the gym to avoid excessive sweat for 24hours and drink plenty of water. Always wear appropriate sun protection.
