Every great barber starts somewhere, and it's been so rewarding watching Brydie grow in confidence and skill behind the chair.

She's hardworking, passionate, and gives every client her absolute best. Under my one-on-one guidance and mentorship, she's developing beautifully and putting in the work every single day to become the amazing barber I know she can be.

To everyone who has already sat in her chair, thank you for being part of her journey. Every haircut, every word of encouragement, and every review helps build her confidence and shape the barber she's becoming.

We're incredibly proud of how far she's come already, and this is only the just beginning...💈✂️

If you’ve popped into the shop lately, you may have noticed things looking a little different around here ✂️

Black & Gold is currently a smaller team again, with me (Tanith) predominantly holding down the fort as your senior barber.

Patsy is still with us doing hair and renting a chair 3 days a week, and Brydie is currently in Thursdays, Friday evenings and Saturdays as she continues to build her confidence and refine her barbering skills. You’ll likely see more of her over time as she progresses.

For now, Black & Gold is staying intentionally small. The economy has shifted things a bit, and rather than constantly rotating faces through the shop, I’m focused on keeping things stable, personal and consistent for clients.

If the right fit ever came along to support during busier periods, or someone in a position to bring some clientele of their own, work on commission, or rent a chair, I’d absolutely be open to that. But for now, it’s mostly me back behind the chair, doing what I love and looking after the loyal clientele that keeps this little shop going 🖤

A little shop update from us ✂️

After some time with Black & Gold, Blaze will be finishing up with us, with his final day being Saturday, 30 May.

We want to thank him for his time here and wish him all the best in his next chapter.

Usually, I wouldn’t be in the shop on a public holiday… like this Saturday. This one honestly slipped past me a little bit.

And if I’m being real with you all, given how things are out there right now, I may need to start working a few more of these moving forward. Times are tough for everyone at the moment, and that includes small businesses like ours.

We’re still here, still getting by, but it has been noticeably quieter, with more gaps in the schedule especially during the week. I’ve always believed in being transparent with you guys, because your support is what keeps Black & Gold going 🖤✨

So I’ll be in the shop this Saturday keeping things ticking over and since it’s a popular day, I only have a few spots left.

Blaze will be taking the day off, but you’ll also see a new face in the shop "Brydie". She’s stepping into her “developmental sessions,” working on refining her skills and building more confidence behind the chair.

If you’re open to supporting someone on their journey and helping nurture the next generation of talent in the shop, she’d really appreciate it and so would I.
