Every Thursday, a small group of members skin up Coronet before the day begins. The 45 minutes on the way up is where the real connections form - the ones that carry through into both personal and business relationships. Add an epic sunrise over the range and fresh tracks on the way down, and it's more than worth setting the alarm for.

Last week you joined CEO Pete Fullerton Smith and Co-Owner Paddy Kluts for a lunchtime Walk and Talk at Five Mile.

It started with a round of Allpress Espresso coffees for the group in our new reusable cups, a small way to carry our sustainability values on the walk. From there, the rainy weather didn’t stop us, everyone set off into the fresh, snowy mountain air and got to meet new faces in the community and share unhurried conversations on a deeper level. The past two weeks at Mountain Club.

Mid Winter Party closed out June with a vibe - Sweet Mix Kids on the decks, open fire bites by Southern Fuegos, and cocktails by Cardrona Distillery. An evening built for connection, meeting new members, and a good boogie.

Finally with some cold temps, Bush Creek Ice Community Ice Rink pulled a big crowd for their night skate - fire blazing, BBQ, and a rink full of locals under the lights. The Arts Hole opened its new exhibition with a strong opening night, and MC member Chris Chase Photography's work is now up on the walls.

The Opportunity Party brought together sharp voices on bold funding solutions. Our first Ski Tour of the season kicked off at Coronet with an incredible sunrise, and the day closed with a Tasting Session alongside Nanny Goat Vineyard. Good wine, good people, around the table.

Our monthly AI Meet-Up kept the conversation on what's emerging and what's actually working in practice. Pete and Paddy hosted July's Walk and Talk - a chance to get to know the faces behind Mountain Club, over coffee and a leisurely walk on your lunch break.

Join us as we welcome 7th Heaven Wines, a small family-owned vineyard in the foothills of Adams Gully, south of Bannockburn. They craft single-vineyard Pinot Noir, Rosé, Blanc de Noir, and a Pinot Port that spends two years in French oak before it reaches the glass.

Tasting sessions at Mountain Club are built for connection.A small group around one table, an unhurried evening, and time to actually get to know the people beside you — and the people behind the wine.

This is not just a tasting. It's a chance to slow down, drink well, and meet good people on a personal level. Complimentary for members. Guests are welcome with a $20 donation to the MC Community Fund.

Last month, Mountain Club filled with arts advocates from across the country and decision-makers from across Queenstown Lakes — in the room for the Creative Hui, a sold-out day on the future of creativity and culture in our district.

Organised by Three Lakes Cultural Trust as part of their ongoing work to keep creativity and culture central to our community. It was a privilege to host a conversation that matters to the future of our district.

COMING UP IN JULY

We kick off July with our monthly AI Meet-Up tonight, a space for open conversation on what's emerging and what's actually working. Wednesday, Pete and Paddy host July's Walk and Talk - get to know the faces behind Mountain Club with a coffee on us.

Our first AI SeriesWorkshop lands focusing on Intermediate Claude Cowork with Anthony Grant - a hands-on workshop for those building real workflows with AI. We then welcome 7th Heaven Wines for a tasting session, a perfect opportunity to get to know the people around the table, whilst the wine flows.

Later in the month, our MyHR workshop tackles managing medical incapacity - practical guidance for people leaders navigating the conversations most teams put off. Our July Industry Leaders panel asks whether Queenstown could become a Blue Zone. Paddy Kluts is joined by Nadia Lim, Dominic Bowden, Damian Chaparro and Dr Adam Castricum - a future-focused conversation on what it takes to live longer, healthier lives in this place.

We close out the month with Impact100 Whakatipu's Untold Stories, a speaker series bringing forward the quiet, compelling stories of local women, and a Business Exit Strategy Lunch and Learn with Fiona Laren from Barker Business Brokerage Ltd for founders thinking about what comes next.

Our first Ski Tour of the season went out last Thursday, with weekly tours continuing at Coronet through winter - a strong way to start a Thursday morning and meet like-minded people in the mountains. Reform Pilates keeps its weekly rhythm at the club.
