Ang Dysmenorrhea o menstrual cramps ay sakit na nararanasan ng mga babae kapag may regla. Ang pananakit na ito ay nagsisimula sa bandang baba ng tiyan, hanggang sa balakang at mga hita. Ang salitang dysmenorrhea ay hinango sa sallitang Griyego na ang ibig sabihin ng “dys” ay mahirap, masakit o abnormal, ang “meno” ay month o buwan at ang “rrhea” naman ay daloy o flow.

Anong nangyayari kapag may dysmenorrhea?

“Ang dysmenorrhea ay nangyayari a day or 2 before at during the menstruation. Habang nagme-mens ang isang babae, ang uterus, since it’s a muscle inilalabas na chemical tinatawag nating prostaglandin which causes the pain. Pag contract n’ya, paglabas ng blood, iyon ang masakit.

Secondary Dysmenorrhea. Walang dysmenorrhea sa unang pagkakaroon ng regla pero nagkakaroon habang tumatagal. Maaaring ang pinagmulan nito ay iba pang sakit o kondisyon ng isang babae tulad ng impeksyon, ovarian cyst o endrometriosis.

Professor Adrian Martineau, who led the research at Queen Mary University of London, said:

"Asthma is a rising problem in the UK, with one out of 11 people receiving treatment for it every day. Vitamin D, or the sunshine vitamin, as well as enhancing bone development, helps the development of at least 35 other tissues and white blood cells. This can boost immunity against other illnesses and dampen down inflammation."
